Of all the bugs in Yosemite, we get "10.10.3: Now with more Emojis!!!1!!" SMH

Good point. There is nothing else in this update except emojis. Why couldn't Apple also put bug fixes in it? Why didn't they finally release something that could replace iPhoto? Nope, none of that. Every single employee at Apple was hard at work on this update, just for more emojis.

Should i update? have a late 2013 13" rMBP
All these comments don't make it easy. lol

You don't need to. Go to Disk Utility and unlock your disk first, then go to Verify/Repair.

Make sure you mount/unlock your encrypted file vault disk first or else you can't do anything.

Then repair disk although there was nothing wrong with mine, however. I just selected the STARTUP DISK and then rebooted and it worked fine. I am not about to restore or reformat! Apple sucks these days with updates and fixes. Just terrible! I know what I'm doing but imagine the typical apple laptop consumer. A trip to the apple store!

I had the exact same problem! I tried selecting the start up disk in recovery as well, but that didn't work for me. I tried to repair the disk, and it reported it was fine. I'm now forced to reformat.

I repair permissions first, then repair disk and then selected the startup disk which showed up with 10.10.3 and it worked for me. I was not about to reformat! Apple really is terrible.

If you don't have it, then it doesn't exist.

I upgraded to Yosemite when it was less than a week old. Experienced pointer lag using the Magic Mouse and Wifi speeds would go down to a crawl when BT was in use.

- Changed Wifi channels, didn't help;
- Contacted Apple about it, they asked me to install Yosemite again without formatting my SSD. Did that, didn't help;
- Several reports over the internet started appearing. People experiencing pointer lag using all different kinds of routers (including Apple's);
- Contacted support again. This time they asked me to format my SSD and use Yosemite with nothing installed. Did that, still experienced pointer lag;
- 10.10.1 came out. Did not fix it;
- Finally decided to get back to Mavericks (apart from the annoying pointer lag, the UI behaved terribly on my 2012 rMBP) and TADAAAA, same environment, same router, same settings, same everything. Issue gone.

I hope these tests are enough for you to understand that this issue does exist, it affects a considerable amount of people and it sucks that Apple could not fix it after 5 months and 3 point updates.

As I said I am not doubting that anyone is experiencing the issue. I was suggesting trying another thing to eliminate the possiblity that something else might be causing the issue. When people upgrade to another OS version they sometimes migrate system files from the other OS that might cause a incompatibility or have an application or driver installed that might be causing the issue. My suggestion was to try a bare install with nothing else installed and see if the same issue happens. Not a case of doubting just trying to give a possible path of help.

You can't unlock a disk that is encrypted with FireVault 2 from recovery. At least not to my knowledge.

NO you can! You select the whiteout/greyed out disk icon - then on top inside disk utility you can choose UNLOCK.

Now if someone would create an app that syncs Photos with Flickr (1TB free), we could all avoid iCloud Photo Library's ridiculous pricing.

Who the hell checks their work at apple these days? I'm so pissed but luckily I was able to recover easily.

Installed the 10.10.3 update via app store on my 2015 broad well 13" and waited for system to do it's thing. It finished then I started and see the white loading bar then it another restart and nothing - a blinking folder with question mark.

Zapped PRam didn't do jack, so booted into recovery mode via command-R while powering on and selected startup disk and it worked.

Really not happy with how apple QA's their updates these days!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Turn off Mac, power on and keep pressed alt button and select your HD.

I'm not a new user. Been using Apple products and OS X since 2005. However for me i didn't see a option for this. I checked for repairs on the entire hard drive. It reported back fine. The disk where my files were however I couldn't access.

Wish I had knew this before. It's a little too late now. I only have a few minutes left of reinstall.

You can just quit disk utility and in the apple logo menu, click on select startup disk. Select the 10.10.3 partition and it will reboot properly.

Late-2013 rMBP

I just updated and everything worked out fine.

When first returned to desktop, got a push notification that "optimizations" were being made in the background and that battery life / performance would be compromised until finished.

Photos did not work for me at all at first. With 1 reboot, it worked just fine. iPhoto is gone and everything now appears within Photos.

i have a small hunch maybe this is affecting filevault encrypted systems only. Still though, there should be QA done before releasing something like this. Typical post-Jobs quality assurance at apple.

You may be onto something here. I wonder how many have had the same problem.

If you are running the Trim Enabler app, make sure to turn it off and reboot, before updating to 10.10.3.

This has nothing to do with TRIM enabler from cindori.org - this is stock SSD from apple. I think it's related to Filevault encrypted drives.

Well, if the typical user enables file vault encryption, they probably aren't noobs. So I think the % of affected are small but still, this is not acceptable.

Very true, but considered Yosemite has FireVault 2 enabled by default when you are setting up, your user percentage may be higher.

I don't understand you guys. Me with 2011 MBP updating with the latest software and NO WiFi/BT issues ever!!.

----------

Still no Combo in https://www.apple.com/support/osx/software-updates/

When I was running the developer beta when it originally came out, the WiFi was unstable then. It gradually got worse and worse. The only way to fix it was to turn off bluetooth. With 10.10.3 - even turning off BT didn't help.

You blamed the QA for something that has been happening to isolated people since OS X 10.5. This does not in no way affect the majority of other Mac users nor even 40% or users. Stuff just happens during updates, so always backup your data before hand and take a breather. I'm sorry you happened to be the unlucky one today.

I was making a general post to anyone who is running a nonstock SSD and using Trim Enabler. I hadn't even read your post before I posted. If I had been speaking to you, I would have quoted you.

i've had problems with the trackpad since the last two betas. brand new macbook pro 15 retina. after the final update today.. problems are still the same. it doesn't react the way it should. feels not as smooth as it should. can anyone confirm that too? thank you.

In Photos.app:

When i got a Folder in iPhoto, lets say "Iphone 2013" - will this be exactly be as a album in the new app - or do i have to do all folders again???
