I'm having an issue getting my MacBook Air to boot after this update as well. I've already tried going into disk utility, selecting the greyed out MacBook HD, unlocking the drive, and repair permissions and repair disk. It still will not boot up. This sucks. ## If anyone comes up with any ideas please let me know. #
Is it still optimizing and indexing Spotlight? That could be why.

How do I tell if it is? And how do you disable it?

You may be onto something here. I wonder how many have had the same problem.
Gladly, iPhoto is not erased after the OS update. Photos does not support Locations, Apple discontinued the GPS support. Unbelievable!!!!!!
The first time since decades, that I am disappointed by Apple....
Can we delete iPhoto Library since there is now a Photos Library? Seems silly to keep both...
Pros will hate it.

Is anyone trying to download the Yosemite update and it taking super long?
It has been downloading the Yosemite update for 2.5 hours now and I just updated my iPhone through iTunes with no problem within 15-20 minutes.
Also, the Yosemite update is saying that there is still 6 hours remaining for the update to be finished!
Thanks a waaay faster download, compared to the one via App Store. Everything went smooth, with Trim Enabler precautionally disabled.

You can, but because Photos uses hard links to the photos, it's not necessary. Here is an article at sixcolors.com describing what's going on. In sum, Photos does not duplicate the photos in the new library, but rather creates a new hard link to the original. Thus there is one photo, but links in both the iPhoto library and the new Photos library to the original photo. That way you can still access the photo in iPhoto if you choose, without using up extra space. This system works with the Aperture library too. Note, though, changes made in iPhoto (or Aperture) will not sync to the new Photos app.Have the same question here...
What is the purpose of having the new Photo's and iPhoto side by side; wasn't Photos supposed to replace iPhoto?
Sorry if this is a silly question, as I am a new MBP user.
Thank you
EDIT: 10.10.3 Update went very smooth, with no issues!
