If you are running the Trim Enabler app, make sure to turn it off and reboot, before updating to 10.10.3.

I didn't on my 5K iMac, and my Thunderbolt boot disk booted with no issues. Trim Enabler told me after updating that TRIM wasn't enabled, so I had to reenable it and reboot. All is well.

You blamed the QA for something that has been happening to isolated people since OS X 10.5. This does not in no way affect the majority of other Mac users nor even 40% or users. Stuff just happens during updates, so always backup your data before hand and take a breather. I'm sorry you happened to be the unlucky one today.

I had the same problem, but it doesn't seem to be a major issue for that many. At least right now it doesn't.

photos is disappointing

Really want photos but hate Yosemite overall. Decisions decisions...

Gladly, iPhoto is not erased after the OS update. Photos does not support Locations, Apple discontinued the GPS support. Unbelievable!!!!!!
The first time since decades, that I am disappointed by Apple....

I'm still not able to access my Shared albums with the new Photos app, even now we're out of beta. It's just stuck on this message.

Then it switches to this and asks me to create a new Shared album, which I already have more than 4 of.

Wifi issues?

I'm still on Mavericks because I don't trust Yosemite with my wifi.

Please, can anyone who had wifi issues (especially MBP Early-2011, which I have) up to 10.10.2, does the 10.10.3 update fix them?

Thanks!

It is good you didn't run into a problem. The recommendation I made is also one that the developer of said app encourages people to do.

Remains... but...

In Photos.app:

When i got a Folder in iPhoto, lets say "Iphone 2013" - will this be exactly be as a album in the new app - or do i have to do all folders again???

You still find your iPhoto-Folders in the Navigation-Bar. But: Their Icons now show a reduced image area :-((

Can we delete iPhoto Library since there is now a Photos Library? Seems silly to keep both...

At first I thought they removed the Network Utility application in 10.10.3 :eek:. Turns out they ended up moving it from the Mac HD\Applications\Utilities folder to Mac HD\System\Library\CoreServices\Applications .

Hopefully if I manage to update, my iMac will stop dropping it's internet connection. Assuming I can stay online long enough to update.

Anybody want to help me out?

I had the same thing & it was because I had my iPhone plugged in which caused the new Photos app to open - 'hijacking' the iPhoto library. I restarted my machine & opened iPhoto BEFORE plugging in my iPhone. Would probably be the same if an SD card was mounted on the system - simply restart & reopen iPhoto BEFORE plugging anything in.

If you don't have it, then it doesn't exist.

I upgraded to Yosemite when it was less than a week old. Experienced pointer lag using the Magic Mouse and Wifi speeds would go down to a crawl when BT was in use.

- Changed Wifi channels, didn't help;
- Contacted Apple about it, they asked me to install Yosemite again without formatting my SSD. Did that, didn't help;
- Several reports over the internet started appearing. People experiencing pointer lag using all different kinds of routers (including Apple's);
- Contacted support again. This time they asked me to format my SSD and use Yosemite with nothing installed. Did that, still experienced pointer lag;
- 10.10.1 came out. Did not fix it;
- Finally decided to get back to Mavericks (apart from the annoying pointer lag, the UI behaved terribly on my 2012 rMBP) and TADAAAA, same environment, same router, same settings, same everything. Issue gone.

I hope these tests are enough for you to understand that this issue does exist, it affects a considerable amount of people and it sucks that Apple could not fix it after 5 months and 3 point updates.

A lot of the issues seem to stem from apple moving from mDNSResponder to a new service to manage networking, discoveryd, which they created from scratch. It could be a while before it's stable.

i have a small hunch maybe this is affecting filevault encrypted systems only. Still though, there should be QA done before releasing something like this. Typical post-Jobs quality assurance at apple.
Weird, you think if this was FireVaut related, it would have popped up during the public beta. Surely one of the tens of thousands of volunteer QA testers would have seen it happen.

I've got a 15" rMBP with FireVault enabled and the update applied fine.

Photos app has worked for me in every beta 10.10.3 so far…but in the final, nothing. No window. I do get menus, but they are all dimmed. There is no UI at all otherwise.

Sigh.

I'm having an issue getting my MacBook Air to boot after this update as well. I've already tried going into disk utility, selecting the greyed out MacBook HD, unlocking the drive, and repair permissions and repair disk. It still will not boot up. This sucks. ## If anyone comes up with any ideas please let me know. #
