Good news, FCPX 10.1.1 works without needing to launch the executable, nothing broken aside from Motion 5.1 not launching at all.

Also noticed Safari and iTunes aren't forgetting my login's; no longer have to constantly enter my information. Alas, no dark theme.

Are you sure fcpx10.1.1 works now? Is the icon showing now?

Screenshots, as requested...

- Thinner font on Calendar
- Bolder font systemwide
- Grey Apple logo

Also...

- TimeMachine and AirPorts working normal again
- Mail is pushing again, but not near quite as fast as on the iPhone as promised by Craig F.

Do we get dark mode and updated iTunes?

Apple has needed to break up iTunes for a while like iOS! Apps for Music, Videos, Podcasts, etc. And most importantly they need to unify the freaking App Stores. It is so annoying that there are two app stores. Just make one with tabs for Mac, iPad, iPhone!

Also, they better redesign the bottom bar and arrow buttons in time machine! Those have been outdated for ages and do not fit the new design style AT ALL!!!

I can also confirm the thinner (and nicer looking) font in Calendar. Now I can see the appointment titles in month view without getting eye fatigue.
Even on my iMac, I now like the new system font...

Some new additions to Yosemite here...
No cloud of smoke animation for removing items from dock (attached)
New question mark icon (attached)
New colour picker (guess what! attached)
Probably (definitely) more stuff too

In my case, FCP X still not readily available. (have to use the workaround described extensively elsewhere).

Same for iMovie and VMWare Fusion.

Thank you!

DP2 is worse than DP1 for me, it's not even showing the time for me :/

Settings - Date & Time - Show date and time in menu bar

----------

  • The Notification Center has a "Today" tab, and strangely enough, you can't add in previously-available widgets like the calculator, etc.

It's always had a Today tab and there's an Edit button that lets you add calculator or World Clock.

address bar in safari is shifted to the left now

You probably just accidentally removed the "flexible space" element. Right-click the toolbar, select Customize Toolbar, and drag and drop.

not sure if the black arrows when opening apps, docs, or downloads is new but I don't remember seeing it.

That's definitely new.

not sure if this is a bug or not but when switching between desktop and safari the background is blue

Haven't seen this.

Great to see for the most part, but I'm not sure I like the loss of the galaxy effect in Time Machine, I don't suppose there's a way to re-enable it?

I don't dig the translucent sidebars. It's distracting. A lot. Especially if you have a website in the background which has a yellow theme. Looks... pissy.

Does anybody know how to disable the icon chat on the menu bar? Maybe with a command line on Terminal?

It showed up there by itself and the option is gone from the Messages app preferences

Command+drag perhaps?

Edit: This used to be one of the items in Messages -> Preferences, but Yosemite appears to have removed this along with many other options.

----------

Hold down the Command key and drag it off.

Question is, with this gone from the Messages Preferences screen, how do you get it back?

Yeah, what if we need to refer to something already on screen right there where it pops up? Can we move it? Is it modal? Does it obscure the rest of the screen contents with any fancy effects we don't need?

I actually like this feature a lot, given I've always used Spotlight as an app launcher and quick calculator. With the newly expanded functionality I think it makes a lot of sense to bring it front and center.

As far as needing to refer to something already on your screen, can you give an example?

I agree. I told Apple that Cyan reminded me of Microsoft and it shouldn't be used for OS X. They said they are aware of the issue so I'm guessing the color will change before release. I don't know why they don't let the user colorize the folders in the first place.

I think Apple generally avoids encouraging the sort of UI customization that often leads to stuff like this:

Time Machine

I updated to DP2 and everything seems ok but my TM backup is sitting on preparing backup for hours now, is there something else I need to do? Any tips would be great.

They removed the stars in time machine? LAAAMMMMEEEEE

Apple is tying to make themselves boring. People need to understand, flat design doesn't mean 2D, it means flat as in flat pop. Boring.

Looks better than iOS

Can anyone confirm if dark mode is in this build?

Here's how you can enable dark mode via terminal:

Code:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences AppleInterfaceTheme Dark

Doesn't work well for the icons on the menu bar. Sometimes it needs a log-out and back in to take effect.
