I signed up for the public beta for when it's released. Can anyone tell me how stable they normally are, and whether it would be OK to use on your primary laptop?
They have never done a public beta of an OS before. Typically I would advise against using a beta OS, especially if you use more than the default Apple apps. Third party apps and pro apps usually do not get updated until the public release.
how do i activate dark mode?
I can only see the Column Browser and list view in the playlists view, not in the "My Music" view. So there's an easy way around it, to create a playlist of all your music. Not sure if there's a more elegant way that I'm missing.
not true apple seeded mavericks beta to non developers who registered for it
Good point. I'll go ahead and switch my iMac's display to "retina mode."You must be still using a non-Retina screen. On my Retina Macbook Pro the new iTunes looks absolutely gorgeous. Retina screens make text and photos look very good. Almost like a printed sheet of paper. The flat designs bring out this effect nicely. The older skeumorphic designs served to help hide the ugly pixelated text caused by the lower quality screens.
Lovely - they've gone for the useless iOS UI. I guess the concept of 'play all music by one artist' is beyond the UI designers. Maybe they expect us to create a playlist for each of our 500 artists?
Preferences > General
It's no longer 'dark mode'. DP4 gave us a checkbox for dark menus and dock.
The messages app on the Yosemite beta is now broke/really bugged. can't get the thing to work.. it was running but the sms didn't go through so i logged out of it now it won't login at all. any ideas?
iTunes 12 looks even more horrific than iTunes 11.
I'll still be sticking with 10.7 (the last good iTunes IMHO) on my main machine for as long as possible.
Nope, they've seeded to selected Appleseed participants and some Apple employees but never before a beta OSX for the general public.
Could anyone post a screenshot of Artist View in iTunes 12? Thanks.

Wow - If true, this is a pretty early Public Beta Release IMO for an Apple OS... They must be really sure that this OS X version is close to complete and ready to give out to the mass... No way they would send this to the public beta users with it causing bugs.
Public beta is meant for people that aren't developers but want to help bug test... so it's going to have bugs. It's limited and not at all the same as the public release.

Is there a way to make any of the options in the "Add Field" drop-down show permanently? i.e. Album Artist, Disc Numbers, etc.
In every iTunes release before this, those options were there by default.
This.
