Keep in mind that PB1 was a full installer, and PB1 and DP4 were fairly close in build numbers. Updating with the DP5 delta installer should have updated the necessary components.

Installing a delta DP6 over PB1 might not update a component that was previously updated in DP5 (hence the nature of delta vs combo/full installers)

Well that is critical information. Thank you for that. So if I understand correctly, you are saying that If I am on PB1, I must update to DP5 then update to DP6. Is that the only way to go if I want to get on DP6? It's looking that way, unless there is a combo/full installer that will become available.

VMWare Fusion

Fusion 6.0.4 still seems to be working OK with Yosemite DP6. I panicked a bit when I saw that Parallels was having some issues, and I need Fusion to be usable. So far so good anyway.

Does anyone actually use the Dashboard or Make new stuff for it?

I think it would be used more if you could attach those things to the notifications or even have a slide out from the left for that stuff!?

Mid-2011 MBA and Mac minis have BTLE, but there seems to be some question about the technical requirements for Handoff.

Well I remember oh until 2 months ago there were technical limitations to Airdrop until Apple changed their mind.

Wow. Animations are even A LOT smoother than on any other previous OS X! Impressive. Still lags Stacks animation, though.

are screenshots of less quality / size now? i have a rMBP and they used to be well over 3 mb on previous betas but now its just about 200 kb. i actually prefer it this way, just wondering

Quick question. Is it safe to install DP6 Delta over the Public Beta? Or would I need to install all the DP's 1-5 first?

I don't believe so; I've heard of problems that result from doing that. You'll need the DP2 full install, then use the Mac App Store to update to DP3, then 4 and so on...

I am on Fusion 6.0.3 and it won't work with DP6. Is there a way to upgrade?

Use Care with This Update

This update stalled after the first reboot at 22 minutes and then completely hosed the Yosemite partition.

Nope, on 10.9.4 right now and I can confirm it's a CFL bulb.

Serious ? I could have sworn I've seen a LED there before... !

...

Oh wait, actually... the LED bulb has been there since previous Yosemite betas. They are not new to DP6. That makes more sense to me.

so then they will codesign and reupload it, and it will be available any minute now right?

That's what I was thinking.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds code signing hard :D

If you already have it, you can just run quarantine on it and you can then launch it.

Just to clarify and prevent panic: it backs up fine, but the UI to browse and restore is currently "disabled".

It looks like they are getting rid of that goofy starfield background though.

I had to grab something from a TM backup, just ended up browsing the TM volume directly since the GUI interface to TM hasn't worked in any of the Yosemite builds I've tried.

I'm a developer, I've been downloading all the updates since day 1, running the Developer Previews off an external SSD on my iMac.

Since the build appears much more stable now and most of the bugs seem to be worked out, I am thinking about installing on a different machine as well.

My question is: THIS 898MB update is ONLY an update, right? To install the DP on a Mavericks machine, would I have to go through and install EVERY update ONE by ONE!? This is the way it was with Mavericks when it was DP, you had to install DP 1 and then do each one. The whole thing to go from DP 1 to DP 8 took the better part of an afternoon...or about 4 hours.

Is the same process required to bring a Mavericks machine up to date with the current Yosemite build? Or can I install the beta 1 and go from there...to DP 5 and 6 then.

Much help would be appreciated...
Thanks!!

Looks like there is a new icon for portable drives.

The accepted way to get to DP6 is DP1,2(or Full 2),3,4,5,6.

I didn't say you must do anything. I'm saying what I did. Since my non-production install got messed up somewhere between DP1-3, I stopped. When DP5 was released, I decided to try again with a clean install by skipping the first DPs since PB1 was a full installer.

Now I know why OS X upgrades became free. Nothing interesting anymore worth paying for.

The upgrade to Mavericks added multiple hours to certain products' battery life. It also had many other features that boosted performance. This is something that most would consider paying for and we got it free.

Yosemite will offer continuity features that will make communicating and working between different devices much more simple. Although the change in appearance might not be enjoyable for some, it is a new look that is current with the times. Just as people buy new clothes, cars, etc. to keep up with the times, Apple is keeping up with the times and doing it for free.

It is impossible for them to do something that everyone will appreciate. However, it is wrong to make a statement saying nothing they are doing is interesting or worth paying for.

It's looking like PB1>DP5>DP6 is okay to do. One other person on here has done it successfully. Anyone else?
