I'm a developer, I've been downloading all the updates since day 1, running the Developer Previews off an external SSD on my iMac.

Since the build appears much more stable now and most of the bugs seem to be worked out, I am thinking about installing on a different machine as well.

My question is: THIS 898MB update is ONLY an update, right? To install the DP on a Mavericks machine, would I have to go through and install EVERY update ONE by ONE!? This is the way it was with Mavericks when it was DP, you had to install DP 1 and then do each one. The whole thing to go from DP 1 to DP 8 took the better part of an afternoon...or about 4 hours.

Is the same process required to bring a Mavericks machine up to date with the current Yosemite build? Or can I install the beta 1 and go from there...to DP 5 and 6 then.

Much help would be appreciated...
Thanks!!

I updated from OS X Mavericks to OS X Yosemite DP1, and then directly to DP5, and the update was successful. However, a lot of the OS was messed up (no volume, huge UI bugs, missing features, etc.), because I skipped DP2-4. Next time I will update one DP at a time...

The accepted way to get to DP6 is DP1,2(or Full 2),3,4,5,6.

I didn't say you must do anything. I'm saying what I did. Since my non-production install got messed up somewhere between DP1-3, I stopped. When DP5 was released, I decided to try again with a clean install by skipping the first DPs since PB1 was a full installer.

Ok so you went from PB to DP5 then DP6. That worked for you and hopefully will work for me as well. Thank you for your feedback.

New mouse :D

DP5 is available as a full installer on the developer portal. Need to redeem a new AppStore code.

Install that, then run a delta update on DP5.

Could someone PM me the unmodified DP6 contents of the folder "System ▸ Library ▸ CoreServices ▸ CoreTypes.bundle ▸ Contents ▸ Resources"? I mucked something up in DP6 and reinstalling the update won't work.

Thanks all...

It's looking like PB1>DP5>DP6 is okay to do. One other person on here has done it successfully. Anyone else?

That's how I've done it on my Macs, so far so good!

2013 MBPr, 2013 MBA, and 2012 Mac Mini all took it fine.

The Mac Mini has sound issues, so will be interested to see if DP6 finally fixes it. Problem is that volume goes to full blast when the screen goes to sleep, and the only way to get control back is a sudo command to reload the audio daemon or something.

My gosh those folder icons look hideous. I'm not a fan of some of the new icons in general but the folder icons take the crown, they are just plain horrible.

The general interface of sidebars and small icons are monochrome, why make the folder icons such hideous neon color that just looks out of place and distracting?

It's hard to describe but it seems they just lack definition/contrast and the color is just looks out of place.

It's 132.4 MB:eek:

You should always keep a clean copy of it before you start messing around with it.:p

There seems to be a new "Volume Changer" sound. Sort of a "pop".

Not new, it was in the last beta.

Mine is working perfectly well. Version 9.0.24217.979618

Did you update to DP6 or did a clean install ? Did you keep the Parallels installed from previous DP5 or form Mavericks? I get a parallels error connecting to the sever since DP5...
