One of the good things OS X Yosemite brings is far better (shorter) shutdown times.

It's not the GM, it's the PB equivalent of the 8th dev build. There wouldn't be much utility in releasing a PB version of the GM – the most useful feedback on the GM will come from active developers.

Given Apple's track record over the last month I will NOT be downloading until at least a couple of revisions.
the earnings call is on october 20th so public release then? they have used this before to announce OS X releases. i know they could do an event but the 21st was shot down already for an event.
It's hasn't been rocky this time, it's been solid except for the occasional UI glitches.
Currently downloading (1.18GB on a late 2013 rMBP), at a pace suggesting there's a digital dude walking in front of the datastream holding up a red flag. Time to deploy an RFC1149-compliant connection..

Are you staying Continuity WILL work as long as the machine can be installed with Yosemite? Or do you need to be equipped with those low energy bluetooth on your computer?
Wow much excite, while I'm sure I can find a place to download the GM I think I'm going to wait for a public release of this. Apple has had a bit of a rough time lately so I don't wanna force it upon myself and make matters worse. Hell I might even wait for a small patch before I upgrade.

Hehe glad there is an improvement but I shut down my computer like once a month and then the remainder of the time it's just sitting in suspend. Nice to have the feature but it will probably be rarely used (at least I hope so).
It is really good, I love it. Have loved it since June.So excited for Yosemite. It looks gorgeous.
It hasn't even been hopelessly unstable even with the early dev releases.
