Apple Releases OS X Yosemite Golden Master Candidate to Developers [Update: Also Public Beta]

People seems to get it confused..

Handoff (which is where you can start an email on one device and pick up on the other, instant hotspot, and AirDrop) will not work on your Macs

Continuity (accepting/placing phone calls, as well as SMS) will work on your Macs as long as you're running iOS 8 and Yosemite.

I appreciate you clarifying this. I was under the impression that older Macs like my 2011 iMac i7 won't even do SMS unless my Mac had Bluetooth 4.0.

Hmm interesting, I was thinking they would give it more gap between the DP and the GM.

Also, Xcode 6.1 is still in Beta which means Swift apps still cannot be submitted to the Mac App Store correct?

I'll let you guys have at it and deal with Apple's lack of QC lately.

You do understand you can install this OS on a different partition / external drive and not mess with your production OS?

It isn't like developers are trashing their production Mavericks machines by installing Yosemite betas on their work partitions.

Updated. Everything just seems smoother at this point. Haven't seen any visual differences except maybe the size of the blocks in the volume, brightness adjustment HUD

Just downloaded and installed it, and straight away there is a noticeable difference in speed. GM seems to be running a lot quicker on my Retina Macbook Pro :)

I hope this gets rid of the flickering pink and green squares I have on my iMac screen. They've been there since the first public beta release, and I've reported it through the beta program each time a new release has come out. It appears to be a graphic card driver problem, as doing a screen shot doesn't capture the anomalies. Running Mavericks doesn't have this problem, so it's clearly software, not hardware related.

Normally the Public Beta comes a little later and no reason it won't. Just an educated guess as to when the others were released

We're only a couple of weeks out from when they're likely to release the 10.10, so it's unlikely there will be another Public Beta release... This is GM RC 1.0, so unless they find issues that can't wait for 10.10.0.1, this will be the same build that gets released to all users... why would they confuse people with a Beta release that is largely identical to the final release?

The way most of the current software releases are going I'm guessing Apple are using their new CDN for delivery of this. Currently standing at 1 day and 5 hours to download on an 80Mb connection.

Odd behaviour of Software update.
I waited a bit before I wanted to restart through notifications, but it disappeared, then pushed the button on update in Appstore, said "Available Updates have changed" in a box, when I pushed the "Show Details" button I got what you see down below in a screen shot, did this a few times and each and every time I get one more entry in "Updates installed...."

Bug

Doing it manually now.

It's not the GM, it's the PB equivalent of the 8th dev build. There wouldn't be much utility in releasing a PB version of the GM – the most useful feedback on the GM will come from active developers.

This would be the PB equivalent of DP9, since DP8 was released on Sept 15th.
