My Lease is up!

My lease on my 1 gig ram/processor 17 inch is up!

Time to upgrade to a 1.5 with 2 gigs!

I had to do a tradeshow photoshop file off this 1 gig 17, and the file size got up to 2.27 gigabytes...still this machine chewed through all the work, whilst my PC, wouldn't even open the file.

Kudos....anyone want a 17?

Macconnection offers similar deal also, however, you can order like on Apple site BTO it take longer but it's possible nad they don't charge tx neither. :D

I noticed CDW and Macmall offer 512 extra RAM free on PBs (small fee for install) Anyone know how they configure the slots on a 15" 1.5 Ghz PB when they upgrade the RAM? 'Cause that's saving $400 over the Apple price using two 512s plus no tax! The only drawback is you can't upgrade the RPM on the HD to 5200 and the video RAM to 128....unless anyone knows a dealer that can do that and also match CDW the type deal????
Thanks!

If you like nitpicking, MAC also means Message Authentication Code in the field of cryptography, Military Airlift Command according to The American
Heritage ® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition ... and Naval Training Systems Command (NTSC) can tell us this about the MAC abbreviation:
MAC maintenance allocation chart
MAC maintenance action code
MAC mean aerodynamic center
MAC military airlift command
MAC months after contract
Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary says:
MAC**membrane attack complex; minimal alveolar concentration; Mycobacterium avium complex
Mac**abbreviation for L. macerare, macerate.

Very good! :D
Hope that stops these smartasses once and for all!

my 12" shipping in canada but ....

My 12" pb shipped in canada (ordered on monday), however apple didn't get the order right, and shipped it with the stock hd. what do i do in cases like this? ship it right back, or negotiate with apple to exchange the harddrive at a local repair shop?

*j*

I would get the powerbook replaced from apple, once they start fudging inside, you might have troubles in the long run.

plus an apple care dealer might take just as long to get you the drive.

Powerbook 12in problems in the UK

I'm in the UK, and the release of the new powerbook 12in was enough to convince me to finally get a Mac.

I partially want this as a media system so I can display video on my TV.

Unfortunately, after spending quite a long time speaking with Apple UK, it seems that the required Mini-DVI to Video adaptor is not available in the UK. At all.

Apple US sell it, but they don't ship to the UK.

This is a complete deal breaker for me, so I guess I'm one potential customer lost for Apple.

This is a warning to others in the UK. Despite what it says on the UK site for the specs of the 12in Powerbook, you can not connect it to a TV.

Doesn't the 12 inch come with S-video out? I am pretty sure it does.

To clarify things, I've found that there are a few third party UK suppliers who seem to have the cable in stock (for instance I used MicroWarehouse).

Following this, I've now taken the plunge and ordered a 12in powerbook.

I'm still really unimpressed with Apple UK's store though. I don't understand why they don't stock key cables for their laptops. I'll probably write a letter of complaint to their Ireland head office.

Regarding TV-out in the UK...

Hmm... That's weird... If you go to The UK Apple Store and click on "accesories" and then under "Cables and adapters" there is a "Mini DVI to Video Adapter"... Wouldn't that do the trick?

Odd. It doesn't show up for me. They have the DVI to Video adaptor for the G5, and the Mini-VGA to Video adaptor for the iBook and old Powerbooks, but not the Mini DVI to Video Adapter.

Very strange indeed, I found it on both the Irish, GB and Swedish store.

Oh, the irony! I mistakenly bought an extra one of these that I am sending back to Apple.
