Interestingly enough I got a bumper from China for $2 on Amazon and it is the exact same thing. $29 is a joke, I hate the accessory markup BS.

It is sad to see Apple pulled into the (RED) "Charity"

RED has raised millions of money to help Africa, but most of the money, over 90% goes to cover their overhead, marketing and advertising. Simply put next to nothing actually goes to help people in Africa. It is more of a PR and awareness campaign with very high costs.

So, buy it if you like the color and want to buy a bumper before the new phone comes out.

10% of millions is better than nothing No?
Its not as tho its either buy the case or donate directly. Its buy the blue bumper or buy the red bumper which a little bit goes to charity.

So whats ur point?

mdntcallr has a legitimate concern.

Both (RED) and ONE Campaign have provided little transparency of the Product (RED) program. Note that (RED) claims that marketing costs are born by the participating companies' standard marketing budgets and that unused funds would be used for non-charitable marketing efforts.

Here's the ONE Campaign GuideStar page.

(RED) claims that more information will be forthcoming starting in 2013 as their activities will be included in ONE Campaign's annual report.

Now, if you really wanted a red bumper, you could just pick up a cheapo for $3 at Amazon/eBay/etc. and donate $26 directly to the UN Foundation.

But many consumers don't think like that and would be perfectly happy forking over $29 to Apple with maybe $3-5 ending up for charitable use.

However, without flashy marketing efforts like Product (RED), it is unlikely that many consumers would be stay alert to these campaigns that are ongoing. The needs are always there, but the attention given to these are not.

That looks really cool. I have a black version of that case, and it looks great on my black iPhone 4.

Yep, cases are not worth $30 unless they are carbon fiber or something. I got my case for free from Apple's free case program.

Why is the profile pic in the middle shorter than the other two pics?!

WRONG!!! A quick google would save you from looking like a Knee-jerk Jerk... From wiki...

No overhead is taken by either Red or the Global Fund. Red is the largest private sector donor to the Global Fund, and has generated over $150 million for HIV/AIDS programs in Africa.

What is it with the Apple Haters who have to be negative even when Apple is even doing charitable acts?

Twenty Nine bucks seems like a lot to pay.
If only I gave a crap about those less fortunate than me...

Sure, if you're into candy canes.

Well, red and white are fun colors for summer, too. They should have brought this out in July!

My 4S is still going to be my iPhone come next summer, so maybe I'll pick up a red bumper and stash it away until then. The summer around here tends to start out rainy so the splash of bright color will be great.

$29 for a piece of crap bumper? In this case using a generic bumper case made in china would probably look and feel the exact same thing.

Yep, i still have trusty belkin clear plastic case. Has many dings and scratches but remarkably the phone itself is pretty much mint condition. :D

Good when its time to sell my iphone 4 off via ebay.

Why don't you buy a generic red bumper for $5 and donate $25 to the charity of your choice?!

Someone should do that actually, theres no copyright for the color "RED".

I was going to buy this, then I remembered the new iPhone is only weeks away so why buy a new case for a phone I won't be using anymore in a bit more than a month.

nice but just a bit late? i surly would of bought this one over the blue one i got in the free bumper program oh say 2yrs ago??

I buy my bumpers off eBay for around $3 shipped. Fit perfectly, look great and very durable. Somebody is making a killing for $30, that's for sure. I'd be embarrassed to admit I paused that much.

My only problem with the bumper was that dust and grime would sneak into the edges and completely scratch the heck out of the metal rimming....

went through 2 bumpers. my blue one faded and looked ugly after a few months. my black bumper tore are the bottom by the dock connector within a few months also. would not buy an authentic bumper anymore. switched to SGP Neo Hybrid II and love it.

If you consider $29 a lot to pay then that makes you a lot less fortunate than me. Good thing I don't share the same mind set as you and that you are not dying of an incurable disease.
