why don't all my contacts from my phone show up in this new Message app?

I have it all synced with iCloud, and they show up in Chrome when I go to the iCloud site.. Only about 30 out of 250 of my phone contacts show up in the desktop app, though.

my bonjour look like its broken now
i have installed this, when i tried to use an air app from my ipad/iphone

like: rowmote, screens, air video
i couldn't connect to my mac

anyone experieced this too?
i also did the uninstall and take my chances on just enable/disable the sharing settings, repair permissions and that kinda of stuff

but nothing works :(
still cant acess my imac from ipad or iphone and wifi sync from ipad doesn't work anymore

Everytime I send a message to my wife (who just has the iPhone iMessage) they come over in new texts. Not the same one.

Seems like it doesnt handle multiple contact information very well.

Very nice to be able to do this, but there are a few issues:

- iMessage has been sort of broken since day 1 when it comes to numbers/email addresses. It's odd because the icon next to the details suggests they recognised this problem, but their solution is just broken.

- Chat histories aren't included ( probably meaning that Apple doesn't save it on their servers ). Fine, but this is going to make the above problem even worse if I try to pick up a chat started on another device.

- Full-screen mode is sort of a joke. There are massive borders on either side.

- Should be an easier setting to enlarge all font sizes ( you can manually do it for chat bubbles, but those don't effect the sidebar or other text ).

- Default colours should be same as iOS

Actually, I was also sort of hoping for a web app on iCloud.com. Services like this become indispensable in edge-case scenarios (need to message for something important, all devices out of juice, a grotty internet cafe full of windows machines, etc). I know there's little to no chance of Apple doing that (their web interests are a little schizophrenic), but still.

I keep getting the message my account is blocked from registering, anyone else have the same problem?

I know it may have been mentioned already, but it's really a hassle that messages to your phone number aren't forwarded to your Apple ID. Why can't the two be tied together?

Add IRC support and I might even consider switching from Adium. Though I'd be surprised if they made it as configurable as Adium.

Yeah okay great that i can finally do this from my Mac etc ..

BUT

How do i get it to download my message history?

Ive downloaded logged in etc and then just started imessaging my wife on my iphone .. nothing appeared on my Mac?

I haven't worked out how to fix this, but your phone is sending messaegs *from* your phone number, so when people reply it's to your phone number.
when you message from your mac it's from your email appleID, replies to that shuold appear on both your mac and phone. they don't appear to link together so replies to your phone number don't get to your mac. I'm not sure how to make the phone force to send from apple email ID either...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I just hope they fix exposé, I mean mission control, not application exposé. I hate that it does not include minimized applications.

Sending really long messages via Messages for OS X causes the recipients iPad/iPhone/Messages to hang, pulling down notification center requires a hard reset, and openining Messages crashes if the unread message is really long.

I just noticed that it deletes ichat.

It's still included, they are the same application. Go Window->Buddies to get your iChat contact list.

lol, looks like it mess with the whole process
i also cant ssh to any jailbroken ipad or iphone

Can Messages/OS X do a video chat with an older iChat system? I have relatives still on Leopard that we video-iChat with (one still using an original Apple Firewire iSight camera on a G4,) that aren't going to upgrade just to keep video chatting. I sincerely hope they aren't moving video chat to FaceTime-only. (It would also be nice if they finally added video-chat interoperability with other IM networks.)

'bout f'n time...

iChat's been hanging around like an ex-girlfriend-- still cute, but irrelevant.

WTH is going on?

I type in my icloud email address....it finds it. Says I will be reached at that email address but the sign in button is greyed out......should I be using my itunes account email (gmail) instead?
