Bring us the full Apple TV. It's basically Apple TV built into iMac with a 36 inch or 40 inch screen. The market is sizable one would think.

That market already belongs to Samsung, LG and the new Chinese companies. If Apple can't compete in the market with computers, phones, I've a hard time believing they'll be successful in the tv-market.

I'm not liking this at all. I for one use Apple TV's in some of my rooms just for audio for example. I totally do not like the fact that these are monitor or TV dependent. I want the screen of the Apple TV to show up on our phones so then you get full navigation with the touch of your finger without a need to be connected to the monitor of any kind. To be clear, I sometimes only use them for audio only.

Is it just like previous versions of the remote app that needed to be connected to the same network to function? i rarely have my iPhone connected to my home network, as my cellular data connection is faster than my home wifi and i've got unlimited data...
I just tried it by turning off Wifi on my phone. It doesn't work unless connected to the same Wifi network even after the initial pairing (so the article's claim that it works over Bluetooth doesn't appear to be accurate).

Finally, an AppleTV remote app that is almost as good as the Kodi/XBMC remote app.
They've had auto-keyboard launch for text fields since forever.

I have not tried it yet, just got it. I am pretty annoyed that I now have to have both apps on my phone since they apparently do not have the same features.

Here is an idea, create a remote that doesn't revolve around being thin. I just want a remove with some grip and an obvious front and back.

I agree. The old remote app used to be able to work without having the screen on. Would be nice to get this back.

Yeah Apple's doing so badly in the computer and phone market they are practically bankrupt.

They can hold this pace of slow innovation for years to come and won't go bankrupt. But if this pace continues be ready for bigger market share declines and even more expensive Apple gear.

Article says "Bluetooth"

I absolutely disagree. Apple TV 4 has set the stage for the full TV device's functionality, all that's needed now is a gorgeous minimal display. "Samsung, LG and the new Chinese companies" are great at flash-in-the-pan hocus-pocus hardware design with wacky trimmings, but Apple has proven time and again (apart from the protruding camera) it knows how to deliver clean product design that stands the test of time. The market is huge and waiting for Apple.

I got really excited for a second and then I saw the inclusion of "app" at the end of the title. Give us a new remote please, one where you can easily feel up from down.
Right? I'd be embarrassed by how many times I've tried to use this stupid remote upside down if not for the fact it was due to just a ****** design on their part.

Why would anyone pay an Apple tax on TV? What could Apple possibly bring to the game to be a serious threat to the likes of Vizio, Samsung, LG etc besides a higher price?

I guess you live in the US. The Apple TV 4 here doesn't understand Dutch and doesn't support Siri. I don't understand why it's even being up for sell as it's quite useless.

This is great news. The new app will be a big help for Apple TV users.

Eventually, I bet the biggest button will be for "Apple Music". I am not a subscriber, but I hate the fact that Apple is pushing Apple Music way to far.
You hate ! it's not all about you, believe it or not some folk do subscribe to AM and very happy with it but hold on , I'll just email Tim to change it all coz some selfish **** doesn't think we should req it omg

The speed from your ISP has nothing to do with your internal network. The app required you to be on the same internal network.
