I got really excited for a second and then I saw the inclusion of "app" at the end of the title. Give us a new remote please, one where you can easily feel up from down.
There's no magic juice in iOS 9 or iOS 10 that iOS 7 or higher can't do for a simple remote app.
I have many apps released recently that support older iOS versions.
Can't really fault Apple for that, nobody understands Dutch -it's a made up language.

That's quite disappointing. Siri should be available for it. It's one of the main inputs! Maybe a future software update might rectify that, well one would hope that's what happens!I guess you live in the US. The Apple TV 4 here doesn't understand Dutch and doesn't support Siri. I don't understand why it's even being up for sell as it's quite useless.
Sadly, no.

Vizio seem fairly okay comparing to the other competition, and for a few seconds, I did think they might be onto something, but a closer look and they've got some issues that bug me, namely, poor choice of surfaces and joins.A complete threat? How? Apple couldn't begin to compete at the current market price point. Simple? How hard is it to turn a TV on? How do you make that any more simple than it currently is? I have some complaints when it comes to my TV viewing experience, but none of it has to do with the TV itself but rather the continued clunkiness of cable company required set top boxes, something Apple certainly isn't going to change.
And for my money, the P and R series from Vizio are both gorgeous, in design and the actual screen itself. Minimal bezels, simple layout, very easy to use.
Why do you want this new one? Its meant for the 4th gen and includes siri on it only for the 4th gen. Your remote app does everything it needs to...Seems to be impossible to set this up with my Apple TV 3rd generation without having the original remote (it's somewhere. . . ).
I use the Apple Remote app because I can never find the actual remote. If I open this new app it says I have to enter a number on the Apple TV, so I multi-task on the iPhone back to the original Remote app...as soon as I do, the option to select iPhone under remotes disappears.
Not a great user experience. I have an iOS app controlling my Apple TV, but in order to use this new app to do the same thing I have to find the original physical remote, which the app had replaced for me. Should have been an update.
you want the whole image on your phone to look at? how would you scroll through it? or do you want each image being able to touch? Confused by thisNice app, works well. One thing I don't understand is why they don't mimic the TV screen on the app. There's really no reason I should have to look at my TV while using this app. None at all.
You want to feel your Apple TV remote up?
No third party remote works with Siri.Use pretty much whatever remote you want, why wait for Apple when the ability is already there?

Different uses for different folks. I use the Siri part of the remote approximately never. I have my universal remote (a Harmony 650) set up to control the Apple TV (and everything else), but I end up just using it fire up the system and then switch to Apple's remote because I like it better (with a Griffin Survivor Play case on it to improve ergonomics). When the Apple TV's Siri gains the ability to work with HomeKit, so I can ask the remote in my hand to change the lights, then I'll use Siri with the TV more.No third party remote works with Siri.
For a moment. When it didn't show in the Updates tab of the App Store, I clicked the link at the bottom of the article and attained enlightenment.Did anyone else think the TV Remote App was just an update to the regular Remote app?

Why "stupid enough"? I use AirPlay every day and it works quite well. I'm not sure why they'd kill it since AirPlay is built into quite a few devices. An updated Remote app for iTunes would be nice I guess, but the one there now works fine. I'm able to navigate playlists, queue up songs, adjust volume and even create, edit or delete playlists. I can also route audio to multiple sets of speakers and adjust volume independently on all of them -- they stay in sync and sound great. Connection is robust -- as long as iTunes is running and my network is up, it's fine. In fact, my neighborhood had an internet outage the other day and AirPlay still worked perfectly for in-home streaming of audio or video to either my AirPort Express-connected speakers or my 3rd gen. ATV. All in all, I'm very pleased with AirPlay and it does everything I want.Gaaar doesn't look like the new app can be used to control iTunes on your Mac.
Only silver lining is that because they launched this as a new app, they'll presumably keep the legacy Remote around for those of us stupid enough to invest in Apple Airplay for full-home audio. Wonder how long they'll keep that app alive though.
I think what he was saying is he usually doesn't use Wifi at home to access the Internet because cellular is faster, so he'd have to turn on Wifi just for this app to work.
I'd prefer it to work over Bluetooth too for a different reason: It would be nice if we could use the app with its virtual keyboard to enter long Wifi passphrases, e.g. when connecting the ATV to a new network or just changing the passphrase after the initial setup. This is obviously not possible if the ATV needs to be already connected to Wifi for the app to work. Entering long passphrases with the regular remote is a pain. Alas, the app doesn't appear to work over Bluetooth.
