back to snow leopard for me i think. now im just getting beach balls every time i click on something in the itunes store. did i mention that my display doesnt sleep anymore?

i also asked apple for a refund which they have agreed to.

Lets be clear that just because you don't have problems with your installation it doesn't mean other people are having major issues with theirs.

mac os x lion in my opinion just has too many bugs. Maybe i'll try again when .1 or .2 has dropped.

This is why you never updated to brand new OS. That's why I'm waiting for 10.7.1 or .2 to updated. As far as the 10.6.8 updated, why didn't they just upgrade to 10.6.9 so that they stop confusing everybody?

To defend Apple, Microsoft has also reissued service packs when the fix is for the service pack installer - adding a suffix like "a" to the service pack installer file. In other words, no new files in the service pack - but fixing bugs which may have prevented all of the service pack updates from being made to the target system.

Never Again.
If I hadn't been a fool and waited a little bit, maybe I wouldnt have lost all of my archived mail that took up most of Sunday to get back.

I'm not sure I'd call this a bug but it sure is a big disappointment.

It isn't perfect that is for sure/

I think this is Apple begin fancy. That is the blurred text is done on purpose along with the extra fraction of a second it doesn't need to take.

Well if you see them as problem you are right. I think the refocus thing was done on purpose though.

I wouldn't call any of your listed items bugs. However bugs are there too. On the other hand the bugs are few considering just how much has been refactored.

Thanks for the comments, Wizard. Sorry if I misused the word "buggy". I'm still learning the nomenclature

Oh yeah! Thank God! Apple is so great.
[...]

Its so great to see apple takes care of this things :D:D:D

Lol wut?

Apple is so great because they release bug fixes - fixing things that they messed up in the first place - and managed to do it in a thoroughly confusing manner, by not updating the version number (e.g. to 10.6.8.1)?

I want to encourage you all to use http://bugreporter.apple.com/.
If Apple doesn't know about it, they can't fix it! I have two bugs listed so far! :D Just try to follow the reporting rules or risk giving Apple devs headaches instead of helping them fix problems. That could suck.

Well each individual has his own standards and issues, but I find Lion to be one of the best updates to come from Apple in some time. Given that there is no resin to hold off that I can see. The OS will never be complete and bug free, so waiting for that to happen is silly.

Don't believe me on the OS never begin bug free, just look at what is happening with the 10.6.8 update. Waiting for a special X.X.y revision to come is a loosing game. Dot "y" versions can screw things up just as well as a major revision.

Yeah no OS will ever be completely 100% bug free but you have to admit that it's good to wait till the first updated so that all of the major bugs and problems are fixed. And that is my point regarding Lion.

You have to be a reigstered Apple developer to use that site. Not for everyone.

Upgraded to Lion on my home iMac this past weekend which I mostly use to wireless listen to music through my stereo set up throughout the house. I use Airport express which has worked flawlessly for the past three or four years. With Lion I can no longer use it!!?? Still trying to figure it out. If anyone has suggestions they are certainly welcome. :(

Anyway, because of this and several other issues, I have decided NOT to upgrade to Lion on my work Mac and my Laptop. I think I will wait a month or two to do so.

WTF just happened?

I just installed this patch on my MacBook and it bricked it. I can't even boot it in Safe Mode. Anyone else have this problem?

Should I update from 10.6.8 Combo to 10.6.8 v1.1 Combo?

BTW, combo updates are not just for people who have yet to update to the version. They'll install just fine on the version they're updating to as well. I've done that in the past to fix corruption issues.

On June 23, I installed the first version of the "10.6.8 Update Combo." I have a question: For the absolute best potential reliability and stability, which revised 10.6.8 update should I now install: The "10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1" or the "10.6.8 Supplemental Update"?

I'm glad to see Apple still throwing out updates for Snow Leopard for those of us who don't want to switch to the new Mac iOS. I'd love to get another year out of Snow Leopard then see what direction Apple takes with the Mac platform.

baloney! For example?

My 2010 13" MacBook Air:

  • Very, very slow to reconnect to my home network when my computer wakes up.
  • Spends the better part of two minutes before it finds any in range networks when connecting to a WiFi network for the first time.
  • It takes a loooong time for the checkmark to appear (about a minute) next to an available network when I click it. Sometimes I have to choose it more than once.
  • Mail sometimes does not update with unread marks when I read email on other devices.
  • Web page flip sometimes does not work. It either refuses to go back, or just shows a blank page.
  • If I'm watching streaming netflix or MLB on my Apple TV and close the lid on my MBA so it goes to sleep, my stream often crashes on the ATV.

Need any more?

Fact is, I haven't found any bugs that make the OS unusable, but it definitely does not feel as stable as I have become accustomed to from my Macs.

Love Em or Not.....

At least Apple stays busy perfecting their wares in relatively short order....

The Pixelmator team is also pretty good about updates and has a forum where they actually listen and interact with the userbase........Apple?...hint hint ;)

For those that are confused at what one to download it's better to just run software update and it will pick the right one for you.
