I just want to thank everyone for being the guinea pigs for every new version of macOS. I'll be there in a few point updates!

The real reason for the release?

Apple has blocked the new version from installing on 2013 & 2014 13" MacBook Pros due to the Black Screen bricking issue.

Fix bricking the MBP? If you're already on Big Sur and not bricked, you don't need it and hence it would not be available. Probably avoiding a 11.0.2 release a week in.

"plus it supports 4K YouTube playback."

Which causes the cooling fan to run very loudly on my 2020 Intel MBA.

I installed it over big sur form the App Store i know I didn’t need it but I like the latest build lol

The only way to know is a response from some users with this issue on the bricking.
This version is blocked from installing on the 2013/2014 MBPs that were getting bricked. It won't even show in Software Update as a "featured" upgrade like it does on other Mac models.

I had no issue installing Big Sur 11.0.1 on my 2019 iMac 21.5" with Fusion Drive
What macOS version did you upgrade from? What Mac do you have with Fusion Drive? What’s the capacity of the SSD in your Fusion Drive?

Thanks.

COOL. It doesn’t change the fact that my Mac is still useless now
COOL. It also doesn’t change the fact that the space crew made it safely to the ISS the other day. Not that it has any relevance to that fact, either.

I’m hoping VPN is stable now.

I’ve been having intermittent OpenVPN connectivity issues where the connection sporadically drops, and it’s getting in the way of remotely backing up my family NAS - 6TB worth of data left.
I can troubleshoot your issue for you if you're interested. I have extensive experience specifically with OpenVPN in multiple business settings. It has never been unreliable for me when set up properly, except in the case of a few Windows clients acting up, but those issues were unrelated to OpenVPN itself, and rather were Windows quirks.

how can we get it if we already have Big Sur
Doubt you will see any difference, most likely this was to address issues for some users, later and current macs were ok but older models were having issues and this probably all this small change is.
