Would love the ability to automatically clear cookies when closing specific sites. Chrome offers this and it's great for sites that allow you to view only a couple articles a month without paying. By removing the cookies you reset the limit but it's a bit of a pain to go in and do it manually each time. Instead Chrome can clear the, when you leave the site so next time you return is like the first time with a fresh limit.

It will be but since the browser is independent of the OS version and will be available for those staying on the older OS versions, why not ship it now. Safari updates are always released independently of the main OS releases.
[doublepost=1537269363][/doublepost]On the Mac you can do this with Cookie 5. It's pretty complete in its functions and will allow you to clear cookies for specific sites on exit, by time etc.
Doesn't work on the phone.
One snag: from memory it costs about $15
Sorry if I posted a blank message. I always seem to hit the wrong button on this site.

fantastic, this gave me back Save Tabs to Pinboard and DirectLinks (by Canisbos Computing, which makes those obfuscated indirect links on Google and Facebook direct again)
Wonderful, just remember that you need to run manually your extension via Extension Builder every time you quit and reopen Safari. I think it might be possible to create a script to do this automatically every time you launch Safari again.

Ask developers to update their extensions.

tried to update. gotyhis message

“Safari” cannot be updated because its extensions are in use by “Spotlight”. Click OK and quit the application.

I did quit Safari but it seems to want more!View attachment 782821

I too encountered this issue. I forced quit Safari and ever relaunched finder.
I finally tried the default Windows solution and it worked.

I restarted my MBP and had no problems updating Safari.

I continue to use the same one as before, Adblock Plus, it still works just fine. It's not in the App Store though.

re adblock plus Apple says it "can read sensitive information from webpages, including passwords, phone numbers, and credit cards on: all webpages."

I think I won't use it anymore - you may also want to reconsider using it.

Ghostery does that too. Canvas fingerprinting was scary when it was new, several years ago, nowadays countering it has become much possible.

*sips coffee*

Might want to put down the coffee and re-read what I was responding to. Thank you for confirming that Apple disabled all protections against canvas fingerprinting. This isn't about being scared. No need to condescend.

What I told you is that there are alternatives to JSBlocker that effectively counter the canvas fingerprinting.

I haven't confirmed anything what you said.

Any way to have top sites and favorites be on one page when I open a new tab like it was before?

So it took away my ad blocker.
What is the recommended way to get a good one back that's allowed by apple? And one that doesn't slow things down by much.

This is so annoying, ublock origin and disconnect.me plugins gone. Until they get App Store versions (and I will try contacting the devs), I won’t use safari anymore and will be on Firefox instead.

Is Safari 12 faster than 11.1.2 ?

Which Developer Preview is this being shipped as v12?

my favourite ad blocker is not working anymore, thank you very much

browsing now really hurts my eyes ...

might be forced to switch to another browser if this does not change

Updated to Safari 12 yesterday. Immediately had trouble getting into work database that uses Java. It displays "Un-supported plugin" and stops. Likely due to Apple removing NPAPI support from Safari 12. Eventually had to reinstall OS to get back to Safari 11.1.2. Got the message for our IT today that Safari 12 is incompatible with Banner 8. No fix yet.

So now plug-ins are gone. How am I supposed to use my Foscam C1 camera?

F*** Apple.

Forum alerts on here and other forums are now not working, there's just a blank space where there used to be a red banner with a number inside.

I tried to update to it, but this is the error I'm getting,
“Safari” cannot be updated because its extensions are in use by “Spotlight”. Click OK and quit the application.

I clicked OK and also quit the application and still couldn't update it. Tried removing all safari extensions, relaunched finder, relaunched app store and still the errors stays the same.

I am in the same boat. I do not see a lot of info on this page regarding this "safari extensions" problem. So, Im guessing its either a rare problem or people are just not updating their system. Anyone find a way to "fix" this yet? Frustrating

I can't stand these FLASHING ADS! At least the stagnant ones are tolerable but these flashing ones makes me not even want to visit sites that have them like MacRumors for instance.
I WANT A SAFE AD BLOCKER BACK NOW!!!

Don't you love how Apple just breaks everything with a new Safari? Now, your plug-ins and extensions are all broken. Whose problem is that? The plug-in and extension developers, apparently.

I can't wait until the Apple Car comes out. A new software version will mean that your child seats won't work any more and need an update, and your ski rack won't work either. You'll also need a dongle to put air in your tires.
