Is it me, or do things look differently,

There's a light line at the top of the menu-bar, the annoying gap is still there between the menu-mac and applications.

Plus the dock looks a different shade lighter. and also the icons look tweaked....

Nope, new iPhones are coming next month, so they're hard at work for iOS 14.1 releases. They're already prepping for iOS 14.2 in October (mentioned in the Xcode 12.2 beta today).

iOS 14.0 has a lot of bugs on the home screen the last day of use on my iPhone X, so they probably rushed it to make the iPad release tomorrow along with the new watches.

I have an iPhone X, so what's your home screen issue?

I have been a public beta tester a couple of years now. The latest release of Big Sure has been the most annoying, buggy and overall bad, version of them all! :(
Not my experience at all. Retrospectively Catalina when they released 10.15.6 had kernel issue, a supplement update corrected that.

But Big Sur is encompassing more significant changes, when you signed on to be a public beta tester you accepted all risks.

AirPods auto-switching worked for me in DB7.

Awesome my update is going quite slow.

And lets not forget the Catalina iCloud fiasco.

I'm so tempted upgrade to Big Sur but don't want to deal with the bugs. We'll probably see this released in October right? But even then, it could still be buggy :(
Don’t do it. I did it yesterday and now am screwed with instant software crashes for needed software. I don’t like the look of big sue either. Ugly themes in Apple apps. Dark mode went 5 steps backwards.

You could've easily created a partition and installed Big Sur Beta to test out apps. Not sure why anyone would install a Beta OS one their main use system.

Apple today seeded the seventh beta of an upcoming macOS Big Sur update to developers for testing purposes, two weeks after releasing the sixth beta and more than two months after the new update was unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

The macOS Big Sur beta can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center and once the appropriate profile is installed, subsequent betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

macOS Big Sur introduces a refreshed design to the Mac operating system, overhauling the entire look from the curvature of the window corners to the dock icons to the system sounds. Everything feels fresh but familiar, with a lighter and more modern appearance. There's a new customizable Control Center that mirrors the Control Center on iOS devices, putting key system controls right at your fingertips.

The Notification Center has been redesigned with iOS-style widgets that are available in multiple sizes, plus there are more interactive notifications that are now grouped by app to make it easier to see what's going on. Safari is faster and more battery efficient, plus there's a new start page that can be customized with wallpapers and sections that include Reading List and iCloud Tabs, which makes Safari more tailored to your individual usage needs.

Tabs have been redesigned, there's a built-in language translation feature, Chrome and Firefox Extensions can be ported to Safari, and YouTube supports 4K video playback. There's also an option to choose which sites an extension works with for greater privacy. Speaking of privacy, a new Privacy Report feature lets users know the trackers Safari is blocking when you visit websites.

Messages is more similar to the Messages app on iOS with support for pinned conversations, mentions, inline replies, and Memoji creation, plus the built-in search feature has been overhauled to make it easier to find links, photos, and conversations in the app.

Apple redesigned the Maps app to add support for Look Around, indoor maps, and Guides, which are lists of notable attractions, restaurants, and more created by trusted sources. Maps can also be used to generate directions for cycling routes and electric vehicle trips that can be sent to iPhone, and shared ETA updates are now viewable on the Mac.

Photos includes a better Retouch tool, Apple Music's For You section has been replaced with a Listen Now section, HomeKit Secure Video cameras support Face Recognition and Activity zones, and Siri can answer a wider range of questions than before.

In the future, the macOS Big Sur App Store will help users better understand privacy practices with clear info on the information that an app collects, and after installing macOS Big Sur, you'll see faster updates that begin in the background and then finish more quickly to make it easier to keep your Mac up to date.

Apple in the third beta of macOS Big Sur changed the battery icon for the Battery section in System Preferences, refining the design to make it look more clean and streamlined. The beta testing period also brought a new design for the Music app icon (it's red), and some color changes to the buttons and icons inside the music app.

That's now two dev releases in a row without a public beta. This system still has so many bugs, Windowing doesn't work properly in Word and Excel, Outlook keeps losing Dark mode, Adobe Acrobat crashes every time you touch a pdf. I am getting tired of reporting these bugs to Microsoft, Apple and Adobe without seeing any improvements.

Every new macOS since like 10.7 has offered more bugs (that never get fixed) than features

And they all ignore general stability improvements. It's basically just features features features (+ bugs bugs bugs) at the expensive of stability. They do this because the marketing department is managing the engineers and designers, and they need more crap to show off every year to impress shareholders

I'm at the point where I don't bother updating anymore, just use whatever the hardware forces me to (2019 16" MBP made me move to 10.15 from 10.14)

Weird having that line at the top; almost looks like a mistake or some kind of bug; the spacing is off between the top of the apple logo and the top of the screen.

The Quicktime icon ... boy is that ugly and the Apple Music icon sticks out like crazy. Too bright!

Wonder if this will fix the problem with AdGuard and Youtube on Safari that broke since Dev Beta 5.

that's because youtube changed how ads are served, adding those rules to user rules should fix

||youtube.com/*/base.js$replace=/(playerResponse.adPlacements|playerResponse.playerAds)/_ad/
||youtube.com/*/base.js$replace=/(playerAds|adPlacement[a-zA-Z]+)/_da/
youtube.com#%#//scriptlet("json-prune", "playerResponse.adPlacements playerResponse.playerAds adPlacements playerAds")
youtube.com#%#//scriptlet("set-constant", "ytInitialPlayerResponse.adPlacements", "undefined")
@@||youtube.com/get_video_info

after that update your filters, close safari and try again

Does someone need to let the developers know that there is an update coming? Wouldn't want them to be surprised like they were with iOS14. :)
I know your tongue is in cheek, but this has been beaten to death. The issue was not being 'surprised'. Rather, it was that apps using the new SDK could not even be submitted until the GM was released. Just as important, they had to be built on the corresponding GM Xcode. This gave them just a day to download both, build, test and submit. :)

Still no air play 2 so can’t use stereo homepods as main output shocking

Ahhh... finally. This beta feels less buggy than the rest have been. Everything that I've had that's been crashing seems to be pretty solid right now. Google Drive File Stream is finally working for real. Adobe Acrobat is working. Everything seems smooth. Been a rougher beta for a lot of the software I use than normal, so glad everything seems to be smoother on this one.

1. Widgets just stops working and becomes blurry.
2. When moving widgets, apps that was originally hidden via App Library gets readded to fill the page.
3. Swipe between pages is often mistaken as swiping widgets (Smart Stack).
And more.
