Anyone else got an error of download?
I did twice. The third time, instead of downloading 3.29GB, it showed more than 10GB. Then my MBP 16 did 3 reboots, one of them super scary when the screen blinked white. After I while everything came back to normal and the update was installed.

Parallels 16 still crashes at the launch of a VM set to use the Parallels Hypervisor (the default setting). This started with the last beta (DB 5).

The default wallpaper at startup bug is still there too.

The download size changed? We’re you on the most recent beta?

I'm not able to download the update. Am I alone?
You are not alone! It's the same for me. I reinstalled the developer access utility and now show the Beta to install. But 12.13 GB!

Was able to install it perfectly, but now I can't map to my Synology shares... Hm.

And here... :(
(Germany)

EDIT: Now (3rd try) it's downloading 11,24GB instead of ~3GB...
Probably too late for you, but don't just click "update". Click the "more info" link underneath the beta version text. Doing that opens up another dialog box with the 3GB version.

It's in the release notes too, although I remembered this "trick" from the earlier betas.

ugh, they still haven't gotten rid of that stupid hover effect where the background and shadow of a title bar will only appear after mousing over it for a second or two (or scrolling) in apps like Finder, Disk Utility and TextEdit (in plain text mode). The UI has become super busy when moving your cursor over elements in a way that is very reminiscent of Windows. Scott Forstall would have had a word to say about that.

I had a 3GB version the first two times and it failed both times. I wonder if it would have worked via the more info method if it is the same size. Next time (although I hope it works right away next time)... The 12GB one worked... :)

Still having issues it finding the update, anyone have anything that can help? Im removed the profile, installed it again and the same issue

Wooooo!!! It’s finally here! Can’t wait to get this installed, hopefully it keeps getting faster and more stable with each update 👍

Heads up: If you use Nortons, Symantic, Little Snitch* or likelly any other firewalling type app, be aware this update will virtually brick your mache with a black-screen crash that happens shortly after bootup. There is a fix involving turning off SIP and then running 'sudo systemextensionsctl reset' in the 10-15 second after logging in, but its tricky to get it right.

Discussion here: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/657905

*Little snitch has generally been problematic in the beta, this however was the new big-sur "compatible" version. I assume changing the APIs has been fiddly

This might help, a terminal command

softwareupdate -i-a

Or this one...but not sure it's the latest.

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.0

Just tried the first command, got a 'No updates are available' message within Terminal.

Funnily enough, around 20 seconds later, the update showed up in my Software Update panel in System Preferences (2020 iMac).

finally, the play button issue on Apple Music fixed! and playing videos on Quicktime fixed. playing videos on safari fixed. great! 👏🏻 Plus, desaturated tag buttons' color fixed on light mode. thank you!

so my Apple Watch unlock hasn’t been working for sometime...

just installed new beta and now I can’t even access Security and Privacy, it errors with this message before you make any changes.
Just in case anyone else encounters this issue.. I reinstalled the beta profile and error went away.

That said, apple watch unlock still does not work. I'm not sure if its the apple watch or big sur causing the issue but it is annoying.

I guess I'm lazy but it was nice not having to type in password...

Personally, I'd always remove any app close to the system (anti-virus, cleanup thingies, network monitoring tools) before installing any beta.

If you want to test them then after installing a beta, run a full backup then install norton, little snitch or whatever. Uninstall prior to the next beta.

I've already installed the new beta still Messages app fail to open. Crashed immediately. Any ideas?

Here's a happy surprise I found buried in the release notes under the SwiftUI section. It just so happens I can put those to immediate use in something I've been playing with. There's also a new .fileExporter with sample code.

Use the new .fileImporter() modifier to present a system interface for importing one or more files into your app, and the new .fileMover() modifier to move one or more existing files to a new location. The following is an example of a simple UI for importing and moving files
