Whereās the Translation app? I havenāt been able to find it to test.
so that 9/10 event date was probably right. GM normally drops that week or the week after.
I hope there isn't people out there that buy new phones for the new OSApple typically doesnāt do Thursday keynotes, BUT with Labor Day on the 7th itās possible. Would be unusual though. Also, this year will be weird since the iPhone 12 lineup is going to be released a month or so later than usual... which begs the question, would they announce phones in the usual September timeframe if theyāre not going to ship until October or November?
And would they release iOS 14 that far ahead of the release of new phones? My guess is no, because that could cut into new device sales, if peopleās existing phones get cool new features and they lose interest in new phones.
I really hope so. Downgrading from Big Sur to Catalina on my 2020 iMac hasn't been painless. Fingers crossed for 2020 support tomorrow.Wow, what a pleasant surprise!
I guess we're on a weekly schedule from now on.
Battery life won't reliably improve till we're off the beta and the logging as been stripped/disabled; that's what really eats into battery life most of the time. So far, it's been fine for me on my ancient 6S Plus (come on iP12 120Hz screen!). Of course the Plus size battery makes battery issues a lot less noticeable.I think the most changes (and internal tuning) occur with these weekly releases. I don't think battery life has been stellar in the last few betas, ok, but not stellar. Let's see what this release brings.
I will tell you what sucks about iOS14 for me. Phone calls, Zoom meetings and the extra steps it takes to mute and unmute via iPhone. In all days past, you could talk on the phone and just touch the screen (when black) and mute or un mute as the phone menu was left on screen. Now, you hit the screen (which seems to go dark fast) and it is the home screen, with the phone icon (green) in the top left corner - you need to push that to get back to the phone menu to mute/unmute. Seems like I am calling out first world problems, but for the life of me clicking 3 times is just a royal pain to get through to accomplish this simple exercise. thanks for listening. Send in a report to apple, doubt they will change it back. Really have no idea why they changed this in the first place....
Touch id works on my ipad 7th gen. After updating touch id doesnāt work anymore. Anyone else?

has nothing to do with the Compact UI, it's while on a live call. Its a feature.
Compact UI
Phone calls
When you receive a call, it appears as a banner instead of taking over the entire screen, so you wonāt lose track of what youāre doing. Swipe up on the banner to dismiss it or swipe down to access extended phone features and tap to answer.
It can affect how the call is answered and thus how the in-call screen is presented. For example, answering from the lock screen has a full screen incoming call UI and goes into full screen in-call UI. Answering when unlocked and the banner notification comes up has a few possibilities: if you just use the green answer button in the banner then the in-call UI remains similarly minimized, but if you first tap on the incoming call banner to maximize the incoming call UI to full screen and then answer then the in-call UI also stays in full screen. At least that seems to be the behavior when trying out a few of these things on iPhone 7 with the latest iOS 14 beta 6.has nothing to do with the Compact UI, it's while on a live call.
the UI for the call goes behind the scenes as soon as the screen sleeps.
I think you can turn off banner calls though right? Its a feature.

Yes, that can be disabled.I think you can turn off banner calls though right?
Aw wut... Iām just downloading the beta (havenāt so far) and the thought of Mail still being janky as hell has disappointed meThis is all very nice. I don't want to pooh-pooh iOS 14. But it would be really nice if Apple fixed all of the bugs still in iOS13 - including the long-buggy Mail app.
ok this is interesting, as I answer the calls incoming from Zoom on my Bluetooth B&O headphones. So to keep the UI front and center on a touch on the iPhone when screen is sleeping are you stating that it will bring back past functionality to where I will just see the phone option screen, and not the green icon top left where I need to dig in to get there? It can affect how the call is answered and thus how the in-call screen is presented. There's also the full screen option for incoming calls under Settings > Phone that could be enabled and likely has an effect on it all too (basically going back to how things were before iOS 14's new option).
