Apple today seeded the third beta of an upcoming OS X 10.11.4 update to public beta testers, just a few days after releasing the third OS X 10.11.4 beta to developers and more than two weeks after releasing OS X 10.11.3.

The third beta is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store for those who are enrolled in Apple's beta testing program. Those wishing to join the program can sign up on Apple's beta testing website.

OS X 10.11.4 appears to focus largely on under-the-hood bug fixes, security enhancements, and performance optimizations with few noticeable outward-facing changes. OS X 10.11.4 offers password protected notes in the Notes app, an import function for importing Evernote notes into the Notes app, and it includes Live Photos support for the Messages app.

Apple is likely to release OS X 10.11.4 in the spring, alongside iOS 9.3, watchOS 2.2, and tvOS 9.2.

I haven't had a single issue or notice a single bug on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015).

I feel sorry for those who do, but leave me out of it. ;)
I've had quite a few but my usage is probably unusual. I'm using an Ethernet adapter with a switch and El Capitan constantly switches me back to Wi-Fi. Only a restart fixes it. Safari also screws up occasionally when you have multiple tabs/windows open.

Lol, pretty aggressive. Has anyone actually switched to the Notes app from Evernote?

As usual, Apple needs to do the following:
  • Get rid of root as Apple's effectively given 3rd party developers the finger
  • Put in the option to change the green button's behaviour (full screen on a large desktop screen is completely redundant)
  • Add option in keyboard commands to have cmd+x and cmd+v act as cut/paste for MOVING files in the Finder
  • Fix the way attachments are handled in Mail (christ, a 600 billion dollar company should get this right the first time)
  • Add option of folders on top in the Finder

In 2009 I bought my first Mac and became an avid fan of Apple's hardware and software development environment. I have been recently looking at *yikes* Windows laptops and desktops for my next big purchase.

Apple could cement me into their corner for many, many more years by implementing just one feature:

FOCUS FOLLOWS MOUSE.

With ever OS X update I read carefully to see if this is in the works. *sobs*

(P.S. Not auto-raise, please.)

Updated my Macbook Air. For some reason the update is not shown in the App Store Updates section 'Updates installed in the last 30 days'. Bit strange but not a big deal. Next beta update will arrive in 2 weeks :)

I'm a rolling stone.
The developer beta has been re-released with this same build. This updates 15E39c for developers.

15E39c was only released to developers.

15E39d was released to both developers and public beta testers.

Yeah, I realized that shortly after writing my above reply, edited before your reply.

Cheers

The fact that it has been re-released to developers is not clear from the macrumors articles. I hope they update their stories soon.

The green button’s behavior already contains that option and has since day one. It’s called the Option key. Hold it down while clicking the green button and you get the classic behavior.

You don't really read peoples' posts in their entirety, do you? Bladerunner just mentioned that the green button's behaviour has to be changed. And you come up with apple fanbois apologies.

The whole "keep my option button pressed for happy-endings to happen" debacle needs to ***** stop.

You don't use NAS drives, do you?

I do use a 3rd party real NAS and I don't see any major/minor bugs happening...

I've had issues with screen sharing. I have a Mac Pro and a Retina iMac in the same room at home. From work I can remote into the Mac Pro running 10.11.3 from my iMac running 10.11.3, but I can't get to my Retina iMac running 10.11.4. But I can remote into the Mac Pro and then remote from the Mac Pro to the Retina iMac. Of course daisy chained screen sharing leaves a lot to be desired. I'm thinking it's time to pull my last machine out of the beta program. Early features aren't really worth the bugs.

There was a problem with the 15E39c build. For that build the seed note said

"Known issue with this build:
Applications that dynamically update their executable after installation may encounter an invalid code signature resulting a crash on launch"

This has been removed for the seed note for 15E39d.
