Seems back online. Does anyone know whether third-party SSD TRIM needs to be re-opened after PB3 installation?

That makes no sense. The translucency is an effect that lies on top. If the colour of the wallpaper shines through windows, that means that there is a hole in that window. How would it look when you watch a dark video and have a bright wallpaper? Not very good I assume.

Videos are not affected by translucency.

Good news: My Logitech Performance MX mouse seems to be working much better now.
Bad news: I'm not overly thrilled with the removal of the Software Update link in the :apple: menu.

Nice new lock icon for authentication. Looks great!

nothing is customizable.

Besides dark mode, reduced transparency, increased contrast, etc? Not sure if you are unaware of what is actually in yosemite or if you don't understand the word "nothing".

Overall, this update runs smoother than previous builds and the text is more readable on non-retina Macs.

Hovever, this new version of Safari (although snappier in my system) has enabled the favicons by default. I don't like them.

Do you guys know a way to turn them off?

Thanks!

unable to reply or compose anything in mail app. FAWK!!!

Not having any issues in that regard, just replied to an email and it sent with no issues.

Noticed a few things though on my 15" 2012 Retina MBP.

Opened Photoshop CC2014 and the system locked up, could move the mouse cursor but that was it. Forced a shutdown and when it restarted had a message that the graphics adapter had encountered a problem. Used gfxCardStatus to switch it to discrete only and that seemed to clear it up so think it was a problem with the Intel HD4000.

Boot screen is back to grey and no longer black with a white Apple, it is a shame as I prefer the black boot loader.

About this Mac - Storage is completely messed up, I don't even keep my photos on my SSD as I have a Transcend JetDrive Lite 350.

The update was not there an hour ago, but it is now and I have downloaded.
Looks a little better and then had a Adobe update

So Public Beta 3 is not on par with DP8 then? As some have been getting DP7 links in thei PB software update.

It's actually Public Beta 3, on par with Developer Preview 8. It's not a DP7 link, although, for some users like me, it says it is. Just a weird naming issue in the Mac App Store.

Dark video, light wallpaper:

Really not that big of a deal, people.

The translucency effect grabs whatever colors it's directly floating on top of, as well as some color from whatever the desktop wallpaper is and combines them together (see below). If the window is floating on a a white background, you'll still get your wallpaper slightly shown through. I like it, mostly because my wallpaper is almost always covered by windows.

This one's looking pretty final and stable - they've fixed the bugs with messaging directly from Safari/notification bar. And airdrop seems much slicker now along with a few other minor improvements.

No doubt there will still be some bugs but this is looking pretty good to me.

Oh and proper mirroring (i.e. like dual display on airplay)

What are your guys' opinions on installing DP8 as the main OS? Is it stable enough for daily use? Have you noticed any 'show stoppers' in terms of bugs?

FYI I am very much aware of the risks associated in installing OS previews and have no qualms in troubleshooting here and there. I am likely going to update to DP8 when I receive my iPhone 6 on Friday and just wanted to ask about the general use of DP8 to see if it's worth updating yet.

The last DP was good enough to be honest, I can't imagine this one will introduce too many new bugs but that said it's a bit early to tell.

They still not fix the problem with the storage info.

I actually had the same issue but a format reinstall fixed it!
