Can you share an example? Just looked at downtown San Francisco and everything still looks like chunky salsa.

Every little building now has a 3D render that loads instantly.

As for details, check out the Apple Park parking garages: you can see the solar panels.

I emphasize once more that all of this detail loads instantly. This isn’t just new map data, it’s clearly new code.

One step behind by number but...
Developer Beta 4 = Public Beta 3

Right?

Exactly, they are completely identical, it’s just that the DB was always released first, so the general public would skip this very first beta altogether.

I turned off automatic updates after I read about the issues in the release notes for the latest Developer beta release here: https://www.macrumors.com/2018/07/17/apple-seeds-ios-12-beta-4-to-developers/

My iPhone X downloaded the Public update in the background overnight last night and showed a red dot notification this morning. Just hit update now & it sailed though in 6 minutes with no need for any reset.

YMMV, but I'm really liking the beta of iOS12 and finding very few issues so far.

With this OS supposed to be coming on out in the fall and pre loaded on the new phones, are they shouting these out pretty quickly?

I updated to iOS 12 beta 3 on my iPhone X, and just noticed that all the videos in my camera roll are now missing the thumbnail. The videos just show up as a gray boxes with the length of the video showing in the corner. (see attached photo)
Side note: I was also having issues with prior to this update:
1. On the lock screen, the time would keep disappearing. It doesn’t do it all the time, but sometimes my phone has no date or time.
2. When changing my background to a live photo, it would re-spring my device and the background hasn’t changed. The UI looked funky too. Setting the live photo as perspective did work, but doesn’t animate with 3D Touch.
3. My Apple Watch (Series 0) has lost the ability to know my contacts names! Only group messages will show up as what I’ve named the group on my phone, but all my text messages coming through my watch just have the people’s numbers. I have to look at my phone sometimes to understand who is texting me.

I wasn’t sure if these were more widespread issues or if they’re user specific.

Damn... They've broken perfectly working FieldTest in Public Beta 3 :( Now it only start once, another try shows just connecting and it crashes.

So, if you happen to have the iOS 12 Beta, please TEST IT and report issues to Apple so that when it is released it is not released with a bunch of stupidly obvious issues. Most people still update just so they can boast about having the latest iOS version and then proceed to maybe use 5% of its total features and then Apple has another craptastic iOS release launch because a complete user apathy from their Beta test program.

Maybe if Apple paid if you identify a bug then the Public Beta program might actually be useful.

If You have an iPhone X I highly advise against installing the beta. I have 2 personal friends who have bricked iPhone X’s that are not fixable via the restore to factory settings using recover mode and iTunes on a windows or Mac pc. And if you brick your phone apple will not replace it... you will be required to pay for an OOW full unit replacement. The beta terms of use state that apple is not responsible for any issues caused by using beta and your agree indicates that you run the beta aware of the possibility that it could cause software or hardware issues and that using the beta is a choice made and doing so is at your own peril

My one usability wish is with Notes search box, have the search box persistant. When scrolling my hundreds of notes have that search box remain visable at the top of the screen. Yes, I know you can touch at the top of the note screen bringing up the search box, however that is hit and miss; for me mostly miss. My Notes are used multiple times everyday, scanning, taking notes, emailing notes, and the like; that is why a persistent search box is important for me.

Has anyone had troubles with the lock screen not showing any time? Or autofill bugs? I also can’t post reply or click on buttons on the screen when they keyboard is up. Hopefully this beta fixes all this! I know its a beta bit still wondering! Hopefully this fixes it.
Yes to me. Hoping this fixes it as well. I also have random black screen I get the circle and then it reboots. Happened 4 times in a week
