Siri no longer works for me, nor does my iPhone connect to my car's Bluetooth. But hey, let's fix the podcast app on the tv.

Reboot and try again. For the phone, delete the old pairing and pair it again. That often gets weird after an update. And it's not just the Podcast app. It's folders! It can attach to keyboards! And something else I've forgotten.

I actually had an issue with my receiver as well and AppleCare sent me a new Siri remote after we ended up restoring the AppleTV and it still kept happening. My issue was the volume kept raising itself without me pressing the button. It only happened when the remote was aimed at the TV. When I got the new remote it still kept happening. Turns out I setup the receiver and tv the wrong way. Idk about your receiver but if it supports HDMI CEC/AnyNet+/ARC or whatever the manufactuer calls it, you're better off taking some time to make sure it was setup correctly, cables too. Could have saved me a lot of frustration getting freaked by the jump in volume all the time.

My Samsung TV was the same way. Once I turned on the CEC -- difficult with the weird interface of Samsung's -- I could turn the TV off with the remote, and turn it on! If I use the Siri remote to do it, it gives me the front page of the Apple TV. If I turn it on with the TV remote, it starts with the TV. Yay!

Siri doesn't work for you and your iphone doesn't connect because you did something wrong.

But you did really badly was to post that stuff in this thread and to think that nothing else can be done until someone fixes those things that you screwed up. That's incredibly selfish and sad.

When will Apple learn to use it's own App Store for things we don't all need? Is there really a need to update the whole OS for a App now a days? Keep it simple, Apple!

The way they used to? But everybody says it was anti-choice! The apps I chose do update, though. And I think the idea there are "apps we all need" is an illusion.

Because Apple doesn't support illegal activities. YES ripping DVDs you own is illegal.

I doubt it is that. I've heard that you can put all kinds of videos in "Home Movies." I think for the moment it's a Developer thing. But I think that will change. A bluetooth keyboard is now working. Remote has worked for a while, so you can try the iPhone or iPad Remote app.

I hope it allows me to pair my replacement siri remote. Right now, all I get is "move the remote closer". I've been stuck using a universal for months, and universal + appleTV4 is worse than universal+AppleTV3 for scrolling long lists.

(yeah, i held the buttons down. yeah, i restarted the AppleTV. no, the old one is lost)

I have tons of family videos from 1970 onward, and a gazillion more family pictures from XIX century. Why shouldn't I be able to connect the HD with all that good stuff to my ATV via USB while I can do it via wifi?

Use Plex. It's free and you can access the content on all your devices and your Apple TV and you don't have to be on your network to use it.

I hope this update fixes the audio failing and the device 'bricking' any time there's a network disruption.

The plex offering on your network is free. Once you want to start using other devices , you need to play.

Siri works just fine for me, and my iPhone connects to my cars Bluetooth just fine as well.
So maybe you should look into something else being the root.

That's not true. I don't pay for Plex and i use it on a Roku at my friends house and my iPhone and iPad over LTE/Wifi at other locations. I've even airplayed movies at friends houses.

Apple today released the third update to tvOS, the operating system designed to run on the fourth-generation Apple TV. tvOS 9.1.1 is a minor update that likely includes bug fixes and performance updates to address issues discovered since the launch of tvOS 9.1, which was released to the public in December of 2015.

The new 9.1.1 update can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the Apple TV by going to System --> Software Update. Those who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to the new 9.1.1 operating system automatically.

tvOS 9.1.1 is available a month and a half after the release of tvOS 9.1. Like the first minor tvOS update, tvOS 9.0.1, tvOS 9.1.1 focuses on under-the-hood improvements, but it does introduce one major change -- a new Podcasts app for the Apple TV.

tvOS 9.1.1 comes as Apple is testing the second major update to the tvOS operating system, tvOS 9.2. Apple has thus far seeded one beta of tvOS 9.2 to developers, which includes new features like support for Bluetooth keyboards, app folders, a revamped app switcher, and more.
