I had one. It came with the Series 3 ceramic as standard. Nice device.
Comes with everything.I can't tell, does it use the cable that came with the watch or does it come complete with everything (cables, etc)?
They didn't disclose the reason and you won't care to ask them?
I bought mine just a week ago, they should've let customers know in advance. Ridiculous.
That would make a lot of sense. I’ve noticed with mine and my S4 that when sitting in the upright position, I’m getting the charging connected ‘ding’ frequently indicating a minor disconnect between the watch and the charger.
I used to use that until this thing came into my life.. Now, I'll need to replace it with a wireless mat..
I picked one up (the older one) when it was on sale at $59. At $59, it wasn't a bad of deal considering it came with a 2-meter Lightning cable that sells individually for $29 (I am not sure what the new one comes with).$79 is still a lot for this thing
It's for those of us that want a $79 pillow for our Apple Watches.
I have one of these as well, but replaced both nightstand lamps with those that have Qi wireless charging hidden in the base of the lamp. I use a standard AW charger now for my watch. But I loved this since I bought it in 2015 or 2016.
Your lamp isn't wide enough to charge both simultaneously?
For those of us that has a strap that remains in a loop and cannot be stretched out, namely a metal buckle type watch strap.I never understood the purpose of this dock. It’s basically a $79 pillow for your Apple Watch.
No conspiracy theories. The old version wasn’t fully compatible with the Series 4. The charging tone would chime every few minutes or so when charging my Series 4 with the Stianless Steel band. Not sure if it was positioning or something more, but glad they released a new version. Hopefully this won’t have these issues.
I’m kind of surprised this wasn’t mentioned in the article. There’s several posts about this in the Apple Watch forum. MacRumors tends to ignore everything but the biggest of AW news, though.

Not really. And I don’t think the S4 supports standard Qi chargers. And even if it did, I use the stainless steel link band so it won’t lie flat.

Perhaps a tweak of clearance when the puck is vertical to cater for the slight change on the 44mm S4?
