I don’t like wireless charging very much due to heat inefficiency. Paying a mint for it is not my thing.
I never understood the purpose of this dock. It’s basically a $79 pillow for your Apple Watch.
No conspiracy theories. The old version wasn’t fully compatible with the Series 4. The charging tone would chime every few minutes or so when charging my Series 4 with the Stianless Steel band. Not sure if it was positioning or something more, but glad they released a new version. Hopefully this won’t have these issues.
I’m kind of surprised this wasn’t mentioned in the article. There’s several posts about this in the Apple Watch forum. MacRumors tends to ignore everything but the biggest of AW news, though.
That’s not a Series 4 bug - I have a Series 3 that has been giving me the intermittent charging tone since upgrading to WatchOS 5.

Eh, probably nothing major. Just added the ability to levitate or something.

Weird. My S3 is fine; it only happened to my S4 using the aforementioned dock in an upright position with the stainless steel link band. And neither the 5.1 or 5.1.1 updates have fixed it.
This is to distract from the fact that the AirPower got FCC approval today (no seriously, it did).
Sadly, you got my hopes up for just that few seconds it took me to google this up.

The fcc approval is for the Apple watch dock, not AirPower.
Not everyone is poor.People pay $80 for this thing???
Worth the cost? Consideringrg it for my 44 SS. I’ve already spent this much...They didn't disclose the reason and you won't care to ask them?
I bought mine just a week ago, they should've let customers know in advance. Ridiculous.
In some cases the original is better. In others, the newer version is. Now, which one is it?If last week, you're within the 14-day return period. Return/exchange.
100% agree. This looks like it should be $40 tops$79 is still a lot for this thing
This new model has 50% more courage than the last one.
I have been using my Series 4 Stainless Steel and revision one of this charger with no issues. Sometimes you have to listen to make sure you have set your watch on it correctly. But this has always been the case. My wife has the same issue with her Series 3 Apple Watch and I had the same issue with the Series 2.No conspiracy theories. It sounds like your old charging stand or some component was faulty.
My nightstand has a lamp, phone charger, watch charger, AirPods charger, and a spare USB plug for occasions I need to charge anything else (like the larger headphones I usually charge at work, but they last like 3 weeks between charges and I take them home for the weekend).for those complaining about the price tag, it does include an extended length lightning cable for your typical long way to the plug nightstand. So that is a factor in the cost.
