And that’s Apple’s problem how? If it’s that isolated everything must be hard to get. Must be beautiful or high paying to compensate.
Its not Apples problem But when a company puts out a piece of software that potentially can cause a device to be come inoperable it becomes apples problem to fix it and it becomes frustrating to be with out a device for such a long time.

Thanks everyone who responded to my query around HomePod with 3rd party HomeKit devices. I am now more confident to move forward to update (reaching home soon) HomePod. In another forum, a user who has a much more complex home automation tied to HomeKit successfully updated as well. 😁

Did you try ANY troubleshooting before writing that post? I’ve handed off several phone calls and various songs and it all worked flawlessly. And that was on 13.2 AND 13.2.1

YES??

logged out iCloud and back in on my devices. Rebooted all devices including HomePod. Reset HomePod, turned off and on the handoff toggle, been trying to get it to work properly for 3 days.
just another junk release!!

if you have other solutions let me know Thanks!

on top of it, asked Siri “who’s this singer” and the music stopped. Can’t send messages because it said there is a problem try later and my partner gets HomePod to say something like “I can’t communicate with your device”

awesome!

This sounds frustratingly nightmarish. I’m so pleased I went another direction for a home assistant and automation.

Updated to HomePod 13.2.1 on my two HomePods in different rooms and now Siri commands for my Philips Hue lights is no longer working properly - none of my scenes setup in Homekit work, eratic behaviours such as only 1 bulb turning on instead of the 24, errors that the device is not responding etc... All were working fine prior to the OS update on the HomePods. I restarted my Wifi router as well as the Philips Hue bridge and continue to have the same issues.

Mine is updated but won’t recognize my wife’s voice. Only mine. It asks “who is this” and then says she doesn’t know who my wife is. The setting is on in the home app on her phone. Any tips? Tried a restart already.

Same problem here. I have tried everything I can think of: resetting Hey Siri on her device, powercycling HomePod, disabling multiple voice recognition and enabling it again, ... Nothing works. Seems like a bug.

I updated to 13.2.1 and update was done OK and general Siri functional (weather commands etc...). However integration with Philips Hue is now broken on two of my HomePods - doesn't turn on lights, scenes, says device isn't working etc... even after restarting both Wifi and Philips Hue routers.

Yikes.
I think I’ll just stick with 12.4. Not worth the risk!
Now, if they just added Spotify, I’d take the risk!
Not sure why they haven’t, given that iOS 13 now allows Spotify integration on my iPhone, and the Apple TV finally has a Spotify app.
Why wouldn’t HomePod be next?

Before I jump in and update to 13.2.1 from 12.4, may I ask if those who have successfully updated has any 3rd party HomeKit devices (e.g. Philips Hue, Eve) as part of the Home ecosystem?

Thanks alot. Just want to assess the risk since HomePod did not launch here and I had to import it from nearest country where it has launched.

My one works fine with all the other Homekit stuff I have. I use Hue and then use Homebridge to add my Nest thermostat, wifi plugs, zigbee motion sensors and door sensors etc and all showing fine.

Just tried my goodnight scene and all the lights went out, plugs off, thermostat set to 16 degrees and iSmart alarm set to away.

EDIT: My non HomeKit Xiaomi cams (flashed with Dafang Hacks and added to homebridge ) work fine too. Even on my Apple watch :)

Does anyone know if you can finally make decent Shortcuts with iOS 13.2.1 on the Homepod? All I want to do is say "Good Morning" which turns on lights and power points, reads the weather currently and forecast, reads the headlines/plays podcast. You can do that simply with a Google Home but I consider Google spyware so I don't use it. Love for more versatility with the Homepod.

I had initially updated my two HomePods to 13.2, and then they became unusable. They seemed "fine" in that I could tap the top of them and they'd start playing a random song, volume icons were working.. But I was unable to connect to them via AirPlay from my iPhone, iPad, or my Apple TV. After reading about the initial issues, I waited, then installed 13.2.1, and after a VERY long install (I'm talking like 3 hours they were both listed as "Installing"), the update finished, and I'm seeing NO CHANGE. I'm able to "connect" to them via AirPlay, but when I press play in the music app on my iPhone or iPad while connected, nothing plays.. It looks like they're playing, but nothing. If I connect to them from my Apple TV while watching a Purchased Movie, the Movies app stops playing and just freezes, never connects. Same with Hulu, Netflix, and the TV Shows.

So I opened a Case with Apple via Chat, was told someone would call me, and then about ½ hour after they were supposed to call me, I get an email saying Apple is trying to reach me by Phone but they're getting my Voicemail. Checked my iPhone Settings, and I DON'T have Block Unknown Senders Checked.. Sooo, yeah. Chalk up another on to iOS13 and it's endless list of bugs.

At some point now I'm just going to have to bring two HomePods into an Apple Store (closest one is like 20 miles away from me) and start over.. I hate going to a Store. It always seems like you're dealing with people that just don't want to help you, but have to. So much has changed with how I feel now when I walk into one of their stores.

So now that I've got 13.2.1 on these things, how do I turn on all the new features like multiple voices and ambient sounds?

Note that I didn't have time to test anything; I only noticed there was an update after I lost power this morning and while setting all my devices back up, saw there was an update in the Home app.

Still not getting this update. Coming from 12.4. I’ve tried everything. If I turn off automatic updates I get the notification and badge that 2 devices have updates but nothing in the home app.

I had turned off automatic updates so that 13.2 wouldn't brick mine. I went last night to download 13.2.1 and it updated itself automatically anyway.

No problems so far, but I haven't really used this to it's potential.

It’s not as bad with an iPhone it has lightning port so you can restitutions through iTunes HomePod doesn’t

I live on a island and it takes 4 weeks for repairs a week to get box sent out a further week to send it back a week for Apple then a week to return it
I had no idea there was no user accessible diagnostic port.

It’s still awful a software update renders a 300.00 device unusable and requires a swap out or physical repair. Unacceptable, really.

I survived the 13.2 and 13.2.1 updates (the latter was only 25MB for me, btw) but Siri still won’t recognize my wife’s voice. I deleted her from the home and re-invited her, checked “yes” on all the boxes, but Siri refuses to recognize her. What’s up?

Don't mean to be mean, but Apple has always thought they were smarter than you (and me), so the smart thing to do is make sure your relationship with your wife is in really good shape, because Siri might think otherwise. We all know that Siri listens in when your not talking to it. I mean hey, Siri could be wrong, except for the fact that according to Apple they do not make mistakes.

HomePod really should have it’s own app
Yup. That's why I have Sonos everywhere else in the house, their app is really great and everything makes sense. The HomePod was a gift last year - It does sound good but I use it exclusively as an AirPlay speaker if I'm in the room where it is.

Came in here looking for info on setting up multiple voice recognition as it doesn’t seem to work. Glad I’m not alone. What kills me about Apple software lately is that they’ve made it harder to do a lot of simpler things by burying options (mail reply button for example) while making other things that should have menus or setups of some sort like voice recognition so “magical” that they’re invisible and don’t really work. I used to say I loved Apple over Microsoft because most tasks were one step on Apple as opposed to 5 in Windows, but Apple is slowly losing that while their efforts to make things simple and seamless fail left and right.

Well after rebooting the HomePod after the update and removing and then reading my wife to the home app it all seems to be working. Siri now knows who she is and can read her info.

Is this update still named 13.2? I didn't update or check it a few days ago, did it this morning and got 13.2.

Does it actually SAY 13.2.1?
