Taxes

Hmm, why do people complaine on taxes? We that live in norway must pay a 25% taxes on everything over the pricerange over $ 35 dollars.! Hmm, so a nice MacBook Pro that costs $ 2199, we norwegians need to pay $ 2750 :S I bit f.. up but worth it.!

Perhaps not those features, but any new useful feature. I just thought that those would be more useful than others. Still the updates are disappointing. The long time wait made me expect something more than just sticking new processors on the logicboard.

Fair enough. Maybe next time you'll remember that "giving people things they want" isn't the Apple way :p

have been looking to replace my c2d (2006) for a loooong time. So glad I waited. Hi-res anti-glare. i7 and better battery life.... come to daddy !

Good updates all around. I can't really complain much.

I love that the entire Macbook Pro line now has dedicated GPUs.

I can finally upgrade and not feel like I'm flushing my money. The 15" 2.4GHz model with anti-glare screen ($1949) is probably going to be my baby, though I need to save up a bit for it. :)

It's just like everybody said. Month of Hoping and expectations and in the end almost everbody is disappointed - how is Apple doing this. I'd call this almost devine.

Anyway...

Not enough to make me upgrade. My. Two year old MacBook, uni body, bought right before it was included in the macro family, has 2.44 ghz, no fire wire and sd slot but who cares. I will sit this one out and wait for my 3G iPad which will end up being the main unit for me anyway.

It is so so sad.

I would have been an first-time Mac buyer, I have waited since November for a Macbook Pro 13" Update and now this ****** crap.

I am very disappointed, I have waited too long and I need a new laptop. Apple forces me now to buy a PC because I can't wait for another update circle. What a f****** crappy company. Lost a new customer right now!

Do you really need the few more Megahertz that badly? How about these 10 HOURS battery life, twice the graphics memory (twice the RAM on the base bodel)?

The things I like about my 2009 13" MBP (the current model up until yesterday) is the backit keyboard, the never-sticky and large trackpad, the LED lit screen, loudspeaker volume, long battery life and the looks and feel of it. I rarely max out the CPU (except when browsing some bad website with flash or in Logic Studio) and like how small and light the thing is and the fact that I don't need to panic if I forgot the power adapter at home so much.

Could look at the Sony Vaio Z for benchmark ideas. Same computer as a 15" macbook pro in a 13" package.

13" package

OK, no, really. Mind out of the gutter:

Yuck 1.3" high in the back. I wonder if that counts table-to-top height with the foot, or what?

From Gizmodo ". To spend as much as $1500 for a Core2Duo system seems nuts"
:(

A truer statement could not be said. To buy C2D after the last refresh was nuts as well, but this is even moreso. I understand why Apple can't refresh as regularly as, say, Dell, but this is just outdated. Clearly they've just got a surplus of C2Ds floating about that Intel gave them a good price for, knowing Apple would likely be the only company to buy them and then tout them as the next big thing.

Very weak updates. "Just" new processors, no new features (Bluray, built in 3G, ..). I'll stick with my MBP early 2008.

You forgot 3D!
And that should be in every Apple. I think we should also fault Apple for not including 3 D into every product. We need to get used to these glasses and get more headaches:)
And make a sensor that can see through the built in camera when you are not wearing glasses and changes to 2D on the fly.

Apple, don't forget the cup holders and ashtrays on the side.

..but seriously folks, they'll put all the stuff in over time. It's ready when it's ready, not when MacRumors readers want it!

We'll see all of it eventually!

In the meantime:

Refurb store and leftover inventory anyplace here we come:)

duff

since they did not revise the air, I'm wondering if they will just let it die quietly...

During the ipad discussion I mentioned that the ipad was going to be a MacAir without a lid, now me thinks you are right, but maybe a bigger ipad
will replace it?

Of course the 'Hardware' supports this, 3 year old Nvidia stuff has, but Apple DON'T support this in their basic assed drivers!!!!!!!!!!

Spend some of that 50 billion Apple you tight ass's and hire more engineers!!
You'll get broader support under Linux and Windows.

My final choice :

-13" MBP
-2.66 GHz C2D
-8 GB of RAM
-512 GB SSD
-with Apple Protection Plan (of course)

:rolleyes::cool:;):D

core2 vs i3

Well, that's not too bad!

A few questions:
  • How do the 2.4 and 2.66GHz processors in the 13" model compare, is it just the speed or is there anything more to it?
  • What magnitude of speed difference is there between the Core 2 Duo, i5 and i7?
  • What kind of performance can I expect from the 330M graphics chip, should I be able to run somewhat recent games at medium or low settings on native resolution?

I wonder why no i3 in the 13" model. Does anyone know how the i3 compares to the core2? Is this a case of not enough i3s to go round or is there no real performance difference between the two to justify the change? Apologies in advance if someone else has asked a similar question or provided a relevant response already.

Guys, apple fanbois and apple likers alike...

Everyone has to admit, this it the worst update for Macbook pros EVER... they offer NOTHING worth spending the same money (or in some cases) More money... with no added features... They still run $300-$600 higher than comparable laptops with W7, with less features!?

Please someone explain to me how this is a great update, like some people are saying?

Need Advice: Glossy or Antiglare

I'm buying a 15" today, but need to know: Should I go glossy or antiglare? Do you have to position the glossy such that there's no light behind it? Is it harder to use outside on a sunny day?

Anyone with experience, let me know!

c2duo

Whoops. Didnt notice that. Still buy.

After all this "waiting for Arrandale", the 13 inch gets a.....Crap2Duo again. Hats of to the engineering department for solving this "major challenge". After all these months of waiting. What a let down.
