CPU specs..

Just so everyone knows - The Intel i7 processor doesn't mean it's a quad core CPU.. the following CPU's are in the new laptops...

Core i5 2.4GHz (520M), Core i5 2.53GHz (540M), and Core i7 2.66GHz (620M)

the i7 (620M) is a duo core CPU with Hyper-Threading Technology...

... you cant even see 1080p on a 15" screen. there is no difference to the human eye.

While that may be true, I want the resolution to match my Cinema display. I use my laptop plugged into my cinema display to have dual monitors. When I drag a window from one screen to another - I want the resolutions to match so that I do not have to resize as I move them back and forth. Thus - I'll stick with the 17" for now....

finally!

just ordered a 15ich i7 with high res antiglare - interestingly it still says to ship in 4 days even with a different display.

Happy on all fronts.

For those of you who want Apple to adopt Blu-ray, I don't think it's ever going to happen. Everything is going to online streaming. Apple can charge a higher margin by denying you Blu-ray. Get used to it...

Plus blue Ray has no performance increase. I have yet to see blue Ray look any better than a DVD.

Awesome.

We've been waiting on this where I work... we'll probably be order 3 or 4 of the highest 15" and 17" MBP.... we NEED i7 around here.

Thanks for the great update Apple! (and the price drop!)

Pretty much what I expected for price and performance. Although, I wish the anti-glare was not exclusive to the higher-resolution screen which challenges my eyes.

I need a 13" to compliment my new iMac. With these specs I will pass on the 13 MBP for $1,199 and instead pick up one of those $799 deals on a MP from MicroCenter and add 4Gb of RAm, That will get me almost identical performance specs and hard drive for $900 on a MB versus $1200 on a MBP. I lose firewire, aluminum case and backlight keys but save $300 (25% less or 33% more depending on how you look at it.) 7 vs 10 hour battery life is perfectly acceptable for me

Very weak updates. "Just" new processors, no new features (Bluray, builtin 3G, ..). I'll stick with my MBP early 2008.

duff

i7 15" with high-res anti-glare screen is $2349. Thats over 2500 after taxes... absolutely, 100% ridiculous.

I'm trying as hard as I can to justify the cost.. how the heck are you guys doing it??

$100-$150 Question

The primary use for my 15" will be Aperture. (I know, I should use a big display, etc.--but the value (and marital harmony) of sitting on the couch with the family while working is what I'm going for here.) So should I get the regular screen, the hi-res screen (+$100) or the hi-res anti-glare screen (+$150)?

Agreed, but this is Apple.

I am surprised there are SO MANY people

NOT READING THE SPECS!

There is no i3 or i5 in the 13" Macbook Pros, and there is NO i7 in the 17" model.

People have been waiting so long that they aren't even bother reading the specs before they are buying.

I guess you are guilty of your own problem.

there is an i7 in the 17"

Core 2 Duo on the 13"? I guess Apple didn't want HD graphics only on the MBP. Also, good news on high-res option on 15". Good battery update too. Other spec updates…I don't think they're great…

At least they didn't just have HD graphics in the MBPs.

Waiting for Sandy Bridge-MB…

Great let's add fuel to the 'The unofficial Im waiting for the Sandy Bridge thread'.

Hi-res!

I'm diggin the hi-res option! If it were available in a 13" I would consider buying one, 1280x800 leaves alot to be desired. Can't wait to see quad core in a MBP.

Apple.com or Apple store?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

This will be my first foray into the world of Apple and I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer to as of yet.

I have an Apple store right nearby and wanted to see if there is any real difference (outside of instant gratification and the joy of paying sales tax) of buying in the store as opposed to on-line. My chief concern is whether you can have any kind of customization done in store that you see on the Web site.

Any guidance on this would be very appreciated. :)

Prices in germany are almost 1:1. This feels like such a rip-off to me. I wanted a 15" with a matte Screen but now this is gonna be 250,- Euros more.

Month of waiting and now ...

It is so so sad.

I would have been an first-time Mac buyer, I have waited since November for a Macbook Pro 13" Update and now this ****** crap.

I am very disappointed, I have waited too long and I need a new laptop. Apple forces me now to buy a PC because I can't wait for another update circle. What a f****** crappy company. Lost a new customer right now!

I am going High end 15! When the damn Aussie link actually starts working! How much bad form is it to have a broken link!!!

I *KNOW*, it's the same here in Singapore, the 2.66GHz 15" "Buy Now' link doesn't work here either, and you can't pick a different spec and then bounce around the specs .. grrr .. my card was in my hand too.
