I believe those apply to the Oct 31 release of 10.1.1. If there are really new security fixes in this release, there's virtually no way Apple wouldn't increment the release number and provide us a changelog specific to 10.1.2.

Yeah. But those entries were added and updated in November after 10.1.1 was released. Even the whole security page was republish today. Maybe they are not critical enough to be a x.1.x update...

I don't remember Apple ever failing to update a release number for a security fix, no matter how small it might be. I think they only time they've ever done that is when there was a deployment issue that required that they push a new build to fix.

I think this illustrates (to me, at least) that Apple's quality has been slipping for a while. The products they've released over the past few years have had some pretty dumb flaws that they've largely been unwilling to deal with. Flexgate, for example. Touchgate for a more recent one. That one, I believe, is going to result in a class-action lawsuit against Apple for all iPhone 6 and 6+ owners.

I'm sad to say that Apple has been having more quality issues ever since Steve passed on and Tim took over. Steve was a visionary leader. Tim's a bean counter by comparison. The way the company is doing things reflects the change in attitude.

Eventually Jony will make the MacBook so thin that it'll be near invisible if you look at it from the side. No one really wants or needs that but Jony doesn't care. Steve would've reined him in long before now, I think.

The entires were made public and added to the page at those times, but they could have been part of an earlier update as sometimes security fixes aren't disclosed right away until more people are given a chance to update.

Makes sense. I don't have much comment between Tim and Steve. Steve is a technical person, Tim is not. Also, I'm ok with more updates and releases. It means the software is being actively supported and monitored. Having more updates does not mean that the code is buggy. It just indicates that everyday, vulnerabilities are found and some of these vulnerabilities needs to be fixed as a priority. No software is 100 % bug free.

Back to the topic. The only way to see the changes is to disect the code and do a compare between the two versions.... I am not an IOS developer so I cant do it. ;):)

Here goes nothing...I updated (through iTunes, of course) both my iPad Pro and iPhone 7 Plus. Idk about anyone else, but I had just erased and reinstalled from a DFU restore on my iPhone because occasionally it was feeling a little clunky. Maybe it wasn't because my iCloud backup was corrupt after all..? I occasionally do this from time to time anyway, just as a precautionary/stability measurement. Thanks Apple Retail as being a former FRS (now Tech Specialist).

How about losing Bluetooth all the time? Fixed?

"Improves Bluetooth connectivity with 3rd party accessories"

Great day for me: No drop outs anymore @ Volkswagen up! equipment. I can play musics via Bluetooth again. Thank you Apple for finally solving that bug!
They probably enhanced the new protocol by an adaptive downgrade option for older equipment.

Was running IOs 10.1.1 via OTA. Just did iTunes update to New 10.1.1 on iPhone 6 - 2.32 GB took about 10 minutes. Don't see anything changed thus far.

The security page has been updated with November 1 and 2 entries. The initial 10.1.1 was released on October 31. I believe these are new patches:
Those vulnerabilities also affected macOS 10.12, so when 10.12.1 was released, the security notes for 10.1 were updated to include information on them. The actual iOS update was not changed for those at that time.

hope it fixes my:
1. battery life, it can drain my iPhone 7+ in literally 90 minutes
2. runs very hot
3. killing my watch battery for some reason??maybe not the phones fault but the watch os...who knows
4. phone slow and buggy, will open iMessage and get a blank screen, never had that before, along with other weird happenings
5. just a real f*&( of an update all round

This will most likely fix the issue with some devices updating via iTunes randomly disconnecting and showing error 9 code.

Just installed the update and my phone keeps cycling to the apple logo for a few seconds and then turns off. It won't stop.

Yay!

Now what?

Try recovery mode and reinstall again?

Reinstalling can fix weird installation/configuration oddities.

Can you tell me how to reinstall? Thanks
You would essentially use iTunes and the restore option from there (you might want to backup first and then restore from that backup, either via iTunes or iCloud).

Just thought of something. How do we know that Apple's update servers haven't been compromised and that this "release" doesn't contain malware? I've already got 10.1.1 installed and iTunes is telling me that 10.1.1 is available for download.

I'm pretty peeved with Apple over this. No release notes to differentiate this from the 10.1.1 that they pushed on Oct 31? Even if this is legit, this is an unprofessional practice.

A lot of people stopped using Dropbox because the developers stopped putting out a changelog for new releases. Their updates said something like "We update our software periodically". Those of us who care about what is being updated or changed decided we didn't trust the company anymore and have removed the software from our systems.

I use Transmission as my BitTorrent client and it went through something very similar a few months ago. Their update server was compromised and the criminals pushed out a malware-infested version of Transmission.
Not sure Apple iOS updates can be compared with a BitTorrent client.

Thanks, I'll wait a bit and see if the next upgrade comes soon.

A stated above, you won't see this as an "over the air" WiFi update. You have to connect (lightning cable) your iPhone to your PC/Mac and then via iTunes you get access to the update.
What a load of rubbish!

Sorry but I've just installed 10.1.1 on my iPhone 7 without doing that.
I connected to my LAN over WiFi, went to Settings->General->Software update
No iTunes, no cable connection.
Took end to end around 15 minutes. There is no way that it downloaded 2Gb in the less than 50 seconds that it took to download.
