okay DONE took about an hour but what a palaver, it even said your watch is up to date on 1.0.1

it wasn't until I put it on my wrist it said 2.0 will report back with this almost unbelieveable news that you can leave your phone at home and watch will make calls in office...not convinced

I wasnt too happy about it either because I am only going to be home for about an hour tonight and that may not be enough time

But not worth freaking out over.

My watch did update. The only weird thing is that on the iPhone it's still showing 1.0 and it says "watchOS 1.0 Your software is up to date".

But...Under the settings on the Watch it says 2.0...

I realize your heads are falling off...But, be patient. My update DID NOT TAKE HOURS, it took minutes.

And yes, it's not going perfectly... Ok, so it's the watch first BIG update...Im not bitching since the iOS 9 for me went flawlessly -- first time EVER.. So kudos to Apple... The Watch OS updating is a new animal to WATCH owners.. Of course it will be and is rocky but it will get smoothed out...SO CHILLLLLLLLLLLAH....

Update on Dark Sky: Dark Sky update crashes on loading complication and app on watch os2
Well, you are farther than me. Four apps are trying to update on my updated watch and they seem to be stuck at installing - including Dark Sky. They are just saying installing...

the calandar list (one of my favorite features) is now bright blue & red, really not good, is there any way of turning those bright colours off? maybe for another thread.

So far from reading from this thread ... people who finally got watchOS 2.0 installed are getting native 3rd party apps crashing all the time .... is this an OS thing or is this an app compilation bug ? .... I really hope this is not an OS thing and that apps are going to crash all over the place ... coz this is going to be a PR nightmare for Apple especially after they pulled the app from release to squash a critical bug ...

i guess this is what watchOS 2.0.1 or 2.1 will be needed for?

For those who have downloaded and got stuck on verifying for more than some 10's of minutes...I restarted the watch and went from verifying to installing in a few minutes. No in the installing stage, apple logo on watch with a tick circle slowly filling.

I was stuck on "Verifying" for over half-an-hour. Someone on Twitter said he rebooted both Watch and iPhone and then it just took a few minutes to verify. I did the same and now it's installing.

Do we need iOS 9 to use this? Not showing up for me on 8.4.1.

(Waiting for my 6s for iOS 9.)

I noticed this also, but the watch has still not finished yet. It Will go back into the Apple logo mode with the tick marks going around the outside.

This time it will do it much faster my watch now is showing the local time I think it is done.

Yes it's now done, I checked the Watch App on my iPhone and it now shows that I'm on OS2. It took a total of about 45 minutes from beginning to end for the installation. It is a major one for a small item, this is possibly why they want you to have it in the charger.

Now to find out about all the goodies and small things.

One note: I see that the watch did not gain any charge while this was going on. It was in the charger for close to 50 minutes but its charge now is still at the 89% that it was at the beginning. Must have been doing some heavy work.

Well it took me under 1 hour give or take a few minutes using home wifi. Some of the directions I thought could have been better and wasted my time putting my watch on the charger when it needed to initially be on my hand. Appreciated the download progress bar but nothing to indicate anything was really happening with verify and install. The download for me was 15-17 minutes I think it said. Think the verify took 10 minutes or so but for me the install was in the area of 30 minutes or so. Like I said no indication it was even doing the install except for the text saying so. I guess I would say be patient.

I also think I could have cut down on my time by putting my watch charger, which was on a stand in the bathroom while doing the update in the adjoining bedroom, next to my phone. If you are reading the thread before downloading I'd say bring them all close together. You do need to have your watch charged to 50% at least to do the Install so take care of that first before the download. Once you start your install the Watch App software will say Do Not Restart Apple Watch or remove it from its charger.

When the install finished my Watch App/General/Software Update screen changed and said "watchOS 1.0.1 / Your software is up to date". Huh??? However I was able to check the Watch App About info to see that it was now listed as Version 2.0. That was confusing. At first I wasn't sure it actually installed the update since it had taken so long and didn't know if it crashed and just put up that screen.

My watch did require a passcode. At some point it put up the Apple logo with the circular ticks as it showed progress finalizing I guess. Then it went black and just put up the white apple logo. And then it completed and I'm off to explore my "new" watch. First checked settings in the Watch App on my phone. Some new ones to check off. I did add the 70 second watch face glance. It's not something that works when you just pick up your arm, you need to tap on the screen to wake it and get the 70 second screen.

Here's a few photos I grabbed as I was going through my install. Hopefully you all see the final apple logo and are good to go.

Huh? This screen gave me pause after I had been Installing for last half hour. It updated though. Just confusing screen.
WatchOS2Update4.jpg WatchOS2Update5.jpg Time to have fun!

BTW I heard about the release being out when I saw the News Alert on CNBC saying the Release was public now. I thought that was funny that a news channel was making that an Alert :p (Just think of the significance of that -- the power of Apple and the public I guess -- funny since the news channels have been saying the watch is a disappointment and flop too!) and when I went to General/Software Update it was still showing being current at 1.0.1. I went out of the settings area and went back a few minutes later and the update to 2.0 was then showing.
