I'm running a 40mbps wifi connection and still shows over 2 hours remaining... Whats going on here?

Download from Internet is immediate.

Download to watch (from iPhone) is slower, depends on proximity and interference and competing concurrent operations on each device, and ... then your watch will install :)

Sit them near each other and do something else - because a watched pot never boils (because you keep taking the lid off and letting heat out). Heheh :) Enjoy 2.0 very soon !

So you do all know that it downloads the update directly to your apple watch via you phone, right?

So it's downloading to your iPhone before then transferring it at a snails pace to your watch where it's then unpacked and the update is done all on the watch on a tinsy winsy processor..!

I was stuck on "Verifying" for over half-an-hour. Someone on Twitter said he rebooted both Watch and iPhone and then it just took a few minutes to verify. I did the same and now it's installing.
This worked for me.

For those having issues with Dark Sky. At first it kept saying it couldn't determine my location. It was actually set to use my location always. Turned that to 'while using' then back to always. Then pulled up dark sky on watch successfully.

Mine appears to be bricked :( its keeps going off, powering on it works till the screen goes of then its dead again will I do the two button reboot. then the display goes off and its dead again.

Frustrating
Managed to get in and do a reset from the settings menu, and will try to set it up as new

Why is it taking so long to verify? I swear this is the slowest apple update I have done in recent memory.

Same issue here.

Read earlier posts. You can keep phone beta profile. Remove watch beta profile (via iPhone) because apparently achieving watch 2 beta GM would have automatically removed the watch beta profile. Then simply perform two-button hard reboot on both devices.

I went the extra mile by removing background apps before reboot and, after reboot, airplane mode with manual selection of wifi and Bluetooth to ensure cellular was not dominating.

This has worked for all who have tried so far.

Updated my AWS all was good including 3rd party complications like Dark Sky. Siri would not work. It will start to listen but not do anything no matter what I do. Resetting now.

2 hours in, and my estimated time remaining has finally dropped from 5 hours to 4. Bar indicates it's about 25% done. Yeesh. Phone is right next to my Watch, both are charging, and both are 2 feet away from the router with 120mbps download. I knew it would take longer than an iOS update but 5+ hours?

Only myself to blame I guess. Should have waited till I went to bed and had it update overnight!

So you need to update to iOS 9 before you can even see this update? Fail. I'm not putting anything less than an X.1 on my phone. Guess I'll be on 1.0.1 for awhile.

watchOS 1.0.1
Your Software is up to date.

WTF?

Assume you just finished installing? If so don't worry. I posted above with photos (#301) that I got the same thing after Install done. If you check your Watch App General/About settings you'll see the software now says Version 2.0. Bad feedback though after a long process.

Lol. Came up saying 15 minutes to download, took a little longer than that, then almost an hour to "verify" and install.

Up now though (straight from 1, didn't install any of the betas). Not exactly earth-shattering, but waiting for some nice native apps and third-party complications.

Biggest pain is that the modular watch face is still the only one to show upcoming events, which is so useful I end up staying with the ugliest watch face all the time.

Worked fine for me AFTER I power cycled the watch. Prior to that it sat in "verifying" for 35 minutes.

Install did take a long time. The watch got quite warm. Likely the reason they are asking for it to be on the charger.

anyone know how the activation lock works? Is it something that's automatically implied or something you have to find. If so I can't find it.

Thank you for pointing that out ! If you hadn't I would probably have gone nuts seeing that ;-))))
All good , the whole process took about an hour :)
