anyone else getting a "apple watch is still upgrading your account security, please try again later" message?

Everyone or everyone in the US? At least try to remember that there's an entire planet outside the USA.

US only.
It will come to EU eventually, but they didn't say when. A lot of people I know own an iPhone, so it'd be handy to exchange cash with them via iMessage but we do have some alternatives right now

it introduces a new workout type that allows third-party apps to track distance, average speed, number of runs, and elevation descended for downhill snow sports with Apple Watch Series 3.

I wonder when we will see apps released with support for this new workout type. Anyone know? It’s not available directly from the workout app.

Well after some digging, it seems Slopes is looking into supporting this downhill snow sports workout.

Apple today released watchOS 4.2, the second major update to the watchOS 4 operating system that runs on the Apple Watch. watchOS 4.2 comes a little over one month after the release of watchOS 4.1, the first major update to watchOS 4 that brought Apple Music streaming over LTE.

watchOS 4.2 can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General --> Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the iPhone.

The watchOS 4.2 update introduces support for Apple Pay Cash, Apple's new peer-to-peer payments service designed to let users transfer money to one another. Apple Pay Cash, which is also available in iOS 11.2, can be used to send and receive money through the Messages app on the Apple Watch. Apple Pay Cash started rolling out yesterday and is officially available for all U.S. users as of today.

Payments are sent using a linked credit or debit card (or an existing Apple Pay Cash balance), while money received is stored within a new Apple Pay Cash card that's available in the Wallet app. For more on Apple Pay Cash, make sure to check out our how to.

Along with support for Apple Pay Cash, the watchOS 4.2 update also adds support for HomeKit sprinklers and faucets, plus it introduces a new workout type that allows third-party apps to track distance, average speed, number of runs, and elevation descended for downhill snow sports with Apple Watch Series 3.

The update addresses a bug that could cause the Apple Watch to sometimes restart when asking Siri about the weather, it fixes an issue that could cause scrolling to be disabled in Heart Rate for some users, and it resolves an issue that prevented simultaneous timers or alarms from being dismissed independently.

For more on the watchOS 4 operating system, make sure to check out our dedicated watchOS 4 roundup.

Series 0 owners:

If you are on 3.x.x Stay on it.

4.x.x runs horrible on series 0.
Strange I have series 0 and I stopped getting updates after 4.0, what’s up with that? Is that the last version for series 0?

And by ’available for everyone’, you naturally mean ‘available for US customers’ (which for some people means the same thing).
WTH... If most of you can read, it was announced a long time ago that, initially, Apple Pay would only be available to US customers and rolled out tknither countries later. Most of you will complain about any and everything.

When first posted, this article incorrectly stated that Apple Pay Cash was now 'available for everyone'.

It has since been corrected to avoid any confusion.

Just updated from 4.1 to 4.2 on my s2 watch and it feels really sluggish.

Hope it's just indexing or something.

The irony of you having completely misunderstood his initial statement and jumped down his throat.

He never said he had watchOS beta installed. He never claimed the iOS public beta profile would let him have a watchOS public beta installed.

What he said was that having the iOS public beta profile [incorrectly] installed on the watch prevented regular watchOS updates from appearing.
Indeed. But I don't think it's incorrectly. See the screenshot I posted for reference.

It is incorrect in the sense that it does nothing except prevent watchos from updating. You can install the iOS beta profile on your watch, but it doesn't do anything.

Ok so I’m from the US, with a US series 3 watch... I’m in Canada this week for work. It says no update available above 4.1, do they delay the roll out up here and I just have to wait til I get home?

Is there any reason why it takes soooooooooooo long to update the software on the watch? It's never improved.

The hardware is way slower than what they put in iPhones, so no wonder it takes longer to update. At least they don't release new versions as often as iOS, it would be a pain to upgrade more than once a month

My series 2 to worked great until I updated it to 4.0. My watch is soooooooooooo much slower now. Anyone else with a series 2 experience this? Yesterday's update helped a bit, but it's still way more laggy than it was with the initial iOS.

I have no issues with 4.2 on my Series 2 ... in fact apart from battery life on the betas, I've never had a problem thru all watch OS releases on my S2. If you have issues, un-pair and re-pair.

What are you talking about? This is the post I originally responded to:

I know; but there IS a Public Beta Profile for the Watch.

It says none of what you say it does.

Does anyone understand why it takes a long time to update AppleWatch? It seems like it takes forever to download and prepare.

It's also not a "developer beta profile" as you asserted.

There IS an iOS Public Beta profile, and it IS able to be installed on the watch. The text you quoted doesn't say that, but the attachment to that post shows it clear as day.

The ensuing arguments you made - including the one I quoted - were based on things that hadn't even been said. Pure fantasy.

Hello! That's good to know. I always thought that the profile on the watch was needed since the iPhone is running software beta. I wasn't aware that it was a "mistake".

Still, seems strange that the Public Beta site would ask users where they want to install the profile right? It must be iOS doing that but still

Thanks for the info!!!!

At this point, I have no idea what you’re rambling about. Believe whatever you want to. I know how the profiles work because I’ve been running betas on iOS and watchOS for years. I’m not interested in explaining anything more to you; good day.
