My Apple Watch Series 6 is fine. Does this update break anything? Very wary of updates after the mess iOS 14 has made of my iPhone

Why does it take so long to update a Apple Watch compared to a phone or tablet?
Something with the Bluetooth. There's a workaround where you turn off Bluetooth (totally off in settings, not suspended in CC) and then it will use Wi-F1 which is much faster. I did my watch at first on BT and it said 5mins. Once I turned it off, it near instantly went to Preparing. On my wife's I turned off BT right away, and never even saw a time. It went right to preparing. Whenever you the BT warning, just cancel it. And once you get Preparing, turn BT back on, or it will give an error later. I don't understand why if they know this, why they don't use Wi-Fi first by default, and only fallback to BT if there is no Wi-Fi

I'd been on 7.0.1 but apparently forgot I had autoupdate on so woke up to 7.0.2 this morning.

No issues so far. *knock wood*.

Showing 73% battery after 10h9m standby, 2h27m usage, with a 23m outdoor walk with my phone in my pocket and a 42m Other workout.

Note - I also somehow had no issues with ios14 on my XS, but also didn't update from ios13 until after 14.0.1 came out.

Thanks. My Apple Watch Series 6 battery has been great and I’ve turned off auto update OFF on all devices. I’m approaching all OS updates with extreme caution now so no point in updating a watch I’m happy with and has no issues

Battery seems worse after this update. AW 4

Same here. Also on AW 4.
After upgrading to OS 7 I started experiencing a big hit on battery drain.
I unpaired my watch to factory reset it, and set it up as new, and this helped a bit.
But now with 7.0.2 it is even worse than before the factory reset. :(

I am going to try to reset it again tonight.

I managed to fix my battery drain by running the battery completely flat and then fully recharging for a number of hrs

Battery down to 50% after 24hrs.
Bear in mind this was only done yesterday

Let's see how it pans out in the coming days.

I think there is some kind of battery calibration issue.

My battery charger percentage increased by 12% within about 15 mins

From 50 - 62%

Update : 45 mins of charging and my battery has gone from 50 - 99% charge

Anyone else having issues installing this? I keep getting an error that it cannot verify after downloading because there is no internet connection but I have internet connection. I’ve restarted my watch and phone and I still get the error.

Did you get yours to download? mine is getting the same errors as yours. I also unpair and repaired, factory reset and still getting the error message.

Some users didn't have the battery drain issue before and still don't have it. Others, like me, had this issue and still have it after installation of 7.0.2. I have an Apple-Watch 4 with cellular option. I usually take the watch off the charger at 6 am, at 5 pm the battery is down to about 12%. Average drain rate: 7 - 8% / hour. I don't use it exhaustively; maybe like 10 text messages / per day send / receive and phone calls maybe 5 minutes, internet usage maybe 2 hours / day, mainly news reading, background updates deactivated. Before the 7.0 upgrade, I used to still have around 50% at the same time with the same usage pattern. Looks like they haven't really fixed anything here. I have started making intermediate charging after lunch time.

Battery drain on my Apple Watch 6 went from 3.1%/hour to 2.9%/hour.

E.g. 32 hours -> 34 hours for a full battery cycle.

It can now charge between 20% to 87% and down again.

It won’t download yet. I’ve unpaired and repaired but haven’t done a full reset yet but if that didn’t work for you, it probably won’t work for me. My battery life is great so I’m not worried about the upgrade yet.

So I waited some days to see if the battery drain would improve after installation of 7.0.2, but if anything it just became worse somehow.

So today I have factory reset the watch, and set it up as new again to see if that helps.
