I'm glad they've made a wireless version with a numeric keypad. But I'm disappointed that the wired version has been discontinued. The wired version had extra USB ports, which came in handy. And I don't like having to recharge my always-used input devices. I guess in theory I could simply leave the wireless version always plugged in like I do with my wired keyboard.

No Touch Bar leads me to believe it hasn't gotten as much traction as Apple had hoped.
Pfft... Touch Bar... Screw that one, Touch ID would have made me strongly consider getting one.

Maybe security concerns speak against something that basically is easily interchangeable and isn't supposed to transmit your actual fingerprint data to the device itself, but rather just return a security check result, but one can dream, no?

Doesn't having a Lightning to USB connector actually make this wired while charging?

I was hoping they'd make another wireless keyboard with numeric keypad, but for $129 I'm definitely going to keep using my Logitech Solar keyboard instead--and probably replace it with the same should it die in the future. They keys don't quite feel like Apple's and it's plastic despite appearing to have a metallic body in certain photographs, but it works well--and to everyone here complaining about batteries, you usually don't have to think about recharging this one. The advantage of a wireless keyboard (and mouse) for me is mostly about getting the cords off my desk to keep it cleaner, though that's something I value more in a mouse since it actually gets moved during use.

This is bad news for those of us in Education. Students are dicks for the most part, and so we have to use wired keyboards to stop students just swapping the wireless keyboards around in a classroom or even just stealing them. Even until now, the wired keyboard had to be requested specially when buying an iMac. So now it won't even be an option? Will we have to buy keyboards separately. Eurgh.....

It Definitely seems conflicting to release this, especially with the Touch Bar. Unless Appleis just trying to provide more options to the user, which could be the case as well.

1) keep it constructive, if you hate it don't say you won't buy it…
2) I'd be ready to buy an external keyboard with the same "butterfly" (I think?) effect that the tMBP offers. Is this the one? Keys look way bigger from the picture.

I take it this is the same as the one that ships with iMac Pro AND won't be available in Space Grey separately, just to screw people over that extra bit.

The touch bar seems to add $500 to the cost of the MacBook Pro so I wasn't expecting to see it in a desktop keyboard. Unless people fancy a $700 keyboard.

Oh what if they just made and sold TouchBar independently

Yeah for the availability of full bluetooth keyboard. Huge BOO for taking away the USB keyboard. I run a help desk, we go through a keyboard or two a month due to careless users. The users don't like the cheap third party keyboard we've tested, but at $130, there is no way in hell we're getting them Apple replacements.

Apple today released a wireless Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad priced at $129 in the United States. The wired version has been discontinued.

The keyboard features an extended layout with a numeric keypad, document navigation controls for quick scrolling, and full-size arrow keys for gaming.

Like the traditional Magic Keyboard, the Numeric Keypad version has a Lightning port with a built-in, rechargeable battery that lasts a month or more between charges.

Apple says a Bluetooth-enabled Mac with macOS 10.12.4 or later, or iOS devices with iOS 10.3 or later, is required.

The keyboard is currently available for delivery as early as June 8 in the United States. Pricing and availability varies in other countries.

Thank god! I've been waiting for this for years!

I am suspecting that the TouchBar is probably dead-ended now since this was updated without putting a touchbar on it.

it seemed like a long shot, anyway.

Touchbar is dead. Macs won't be going touchscreen… until they force us to get iPad pros.

They didn't even put a finger scanner on it. That would be useful to authenticate without typing in password. Thats strangely missing.

Apple have had plenty of time to integrate a touchbar - yes - it looks like touchbar is on life support.

I'm convinced there is a backlit-one coming... the image of the imac pro show it.

For the same price you can get a wired Matias keyboard. With backlighting and mechanical keys.

When I worked at a University IT office, I would try and offer Mac users options when they asked for peripherals. I'd tell them you don't have to get an Apple branded keyboard or mouse. There are other options, and they sometimes have more useful or more ergonomic features, depending on what you want.

Because my boss would just order Apple branded peripherals for Mac users who asked for peripherals -- because it was too much bother to know or care, and because like a lot of IT heads, she was annoyed that Macs existed and people wanted to use them, so her motivation was to just order whatever with an Apple logo. Apple sold a lot of overpriced keyboards to that department.

No back light no touch bar no buy... really??) you couldn't add a back light and touch bar for $129?

You do make a point on the backlight for the keys. Dumb. Depressing. Why the heck not???

Oh man. I better get another wired version while I can.

Seems pretty crazy that you'll have to shell out $130 to get a full keyboard, that you'll have to charge, going forward. They should have kept the old wired one around.

Expect the basic Apple wired mouse to be on the chopping block next.

I thought it already was dead...

Maybe. Wanna bet it will be an iMac Pro only item?

I'd replace all those keyboards in the classroom with $7.99 plastic wired keyboards from NewEgg.

Don't think the touchbar got mentioned in the keynote - hopefully it's as dead as a dodo. I would pay more to not have a touchbar on 15 inch rMBP if it was an option.
