Just because it is in TOS does not make it legal and I am sure the legality of this is going to be litigated. You will give Apple consent by installing iOS 15 and enabling iCloud.
Right. Us and 7,000 other people including some of the world's foremost privacy and crypto experts who are as alarmed as we average users are. https://appleprivacyletter.com
I've already done it. Years ago. Linux Server (Ubuntu-based) running on an old Windows 8 machine, with Samba, wifi on local only, Plex, tons of media loaded, and it's where I have all my old APKs of favorite Android apps (I don't use Play Store). On mobile I use an old version of ES File Explorer, on Windows or Linux it just shows up in network.I am interested in this too. How will it work for you?
What devices can you sync with a NAS?I've already done it. Years ago. OK - so you seem to understand this process, so it seems worth asking you. It sounds like Apple is not using an exact match, otherwise it'd lead to arms race between pedophiles and Apple, for Apple would have to add a new hash if so much as a pixel was edited in a CSAM image. It doesn't sound like Apple is doing that. It sounds like Apple is doing an approximate match, which must be down to perceptual similarity, assuming the hashing system is some sort of dimension reduction/compression that represents either explicitly, or implicitly, features of the image. That means false positives are likely to involve a lot of exposed skin (I presume that is something often seen in child porn). So... Apple's hair-brained algorithm has a hissy fit over some image in your library and then some human being at Apple decrypts an image of your partner wearing lingerie. Is that about right?
I agree with you.Just because it is in TOS does not make it legal and I am sure the legality of this is going to be litigated.
I don't sync. I just copy files over manually like an old codger. I was never into 'the cloud' at all. Heck, all my music is stored on my devices too. No streaming here. What devices can you sync with a NAS?

Then let me win the lottery and keep your nose out of my photos. Those who are complaining obviously did not read how the technology works.
You have a higher chance of winning the lottery than Apple erroneously looking through your photos.
The "smartness" of a phone is something like 1% dedicated to User's usability and 99% dedicated to have you under control. Just in case you miss-behave revealing some truth one day. Just in case you want people to open their eyes. So, for every contact you have in your phone, for every place you have been, here is Apple (or Google or Facebook) working for who ever facilitates them privilege access to technology and thus consequent revenues.Apple knows they won’t walk back, nor bother to have a discussion. Either apple is evil or someone is forcing apple.
Yeah, it’s clear you don’t get what’s going on with this tech. Imagine if someone had the superpower to just glance at an individual and know if they were abusing a child. You would not tell that individual to wear a blindfold because their mere glance was an invasion of your privacy, you would utilize them to bring abusers to justice. And where is your limit? Should the postal service be allowed to open all letters and check their contents. Whould it be fine with you to regulary check every apartment. And do not forget, that most abuse of children happens in their family, so maybe we should question and examine all children regulary?
Now, one last thing: Have you ever setup a Xiaomi phone? At least Apple and US Government has some elegance when collecting your data. Other Governments are directly human trafficking. The "smartness" of a phone is something like 1% dedicated to User's usability and 99% dedicated to have you under control. The important thing to understand here is that a smartphone is just a clockwork orange to make our sovereignty explode, dilute, disappear. It is more of a Big Brother's tool than a human tool. Their users are just epsilons enchanted by fancy colors and virtual (and not so virtual) possibilities. And soon the law will obligate you wearing always one, like having a driver's license.
Because, after all, why should you have something to hide if you are a good citizen? So, whenever you buy an Apple computer or an iPhone, you are collaborating with a company that cannot stop increasing their sales, cannot stop following the Government's secret services needs, cannot stop making up narrations to backup their theoretical legitimacy of having all your data, cannot stop denying that they are doing everything for your safety. Do not expect a dog to meow of a cat to bark.
Telling the whole world about it months in advance and literally asking your consent in updated Terms&Conditions = “without consent”The problem is Apple choose to install surveillance software on devices without consent and created this problem. The user only has Apple's word on what the software does and their is no way to verify it. Mind you no other company installs this type of software on your device.
iCloud Photos.Game over bashers????? 🤣 🤣 😅Should I assume you are having a party because your team "won" ?
Anyway if you have to store your photos online, which service would you choose now? icloud or Google photos?
You can use sync.com which truly is encrypted, as well as creating a Cryptomator folder in iCloud and storing your photos there free from prying Apple or government eyes.Game over bashers????? 🤣 🤣 😅Should I assume you are having a party because your team "won" ?

What kind of analogies are that? And where is your limit? Should the postal service be allowed to open all letters and check their contents. The problem is Apple has seriously altered the TOS, Apple does not own the phone just the software that is leased to you, and I do not imagine them installing CSAM software to monitor your photos is going to go over well with a judge since Apple does not own the phone.Telling the whole world about it months in advance and literally asking your consent in updated Terms&Conditions = “without consent”
What drugs are you sloppery slippers on?
iCloud Photos.
I can count to 1 trillion and I understand probability.
Yes, and they are going to lose otherwise Apple wouldn't bother with it in the first place.Just because it is in TOS does not make it legal and I am sure the legality of this is going to be litigated.
We will see when it goes to court.Yes, and they are going to lose otherwise Apple wouldn't bother with it in the first place.

between sync.com and pcloud.com which one do you think is better? You can use sync.com which truly is encrypted, as well as creating a Cryptomator folder in iCloud and storing your photos there free from prying Apple or government eyes.
