I cannot stand Alex Jones especially for his harassment of grieving parents and promotion of pseudoscience (health potions, antivax etc.) and I understand this is Apple's call but - I am not sure wholesale suppression of certain viewpoints is the most effective way to go about countering them. It creates a sense of persecution and martyrdom.

The only thing that really hurts it is that some people are truly gullible enough to buy it. Virtually none of what Alex Jones says under the weakest logical examination.

You’re confusing privately held, which Apple isn’t, with private sector (vs. municipal) which Apple most certainly is. As a corporation they’re free to make these kinds of decisions. And if their shareholders or board don’t like it enough, they’ll know.

He wasn't libeled, he made his own bed. Aside from Sandy Hook he also parroted the fake story invented by a bored housewife about Comet Ping Pong and an underground child abuse ring. He had zero evidence to back up such nonsense and a guy with a gun showed up at the restaurant ready to kill people. Alex is dangerous.
Is occurs to me that none of Apple’s maligners here are asking why Apple removed only 5/6 of Jones’s podcasts. What’s on the other one that was okay? Could it be that they really are going after specific messages and not the messenger in general? I wonder if Jones and his ilk would have that kind of maturity were the roles reversed. (Actually, I don’t.)

To clarify since apparently there’s a sizeable number of people who don’t understand the concept: Apple is a private company that is publicly traded, i.e. the public can buy shares. It is not a publicly owned company.

Jones is playing a character. But so is everyone in the news. Everyone knows the highly affected speaking style news reporters use when talking. They all sound the same. So Jones isn’t unique in playing a character. He is just playing a different one from the mass media character.
Why do you think what Jones says doesn’t stand up under logical examination? If you are referring to conspiracy theories he may present logic is of no help. Conspiracies aren’t illogical. They either exist or don’t exist. By their very nature they are difficult to prove. So a problem with Jones as I see it is that he makes a lot of wild claims without evidence. But they are the kind of claims for which there would be little evidence. You won’t get very far arguing about them. My attitude is to not believe things without evidence.
Also most people are fairly gullible. Most people are easily fooled. This isn’t limited to fans of Jones.

I know you won’t listen to this or care, but there’s a reason people don’t get as upset about “racist” comments directed toward whites:
A) the concept of biological race didn’t even exist until the 16th century. It was invented in Europe to justify oppression of “non-white” people
B) racism is therefore generally understood as a systemic form of oppression based on race. You would need to be delusional in order to think that white people are oppressed in America.
Do you have more information on this? Did a google search but couldn’t find anything that said he asked about their sexual orientation before they said what the cake was for.

Sure he was libeled if he did not actually say hate speech. It is like if Apple said they were removing him because he was a rapist. If Jones was in fact a rapist then that isn’t libel. But if he isn’t then it is. The hate speech claims seem to be false.
Jones himself is guilty of libel if he claimed a restaurant had an underground child sex ring and that was false. I’m surprised he wasn’t sued if it was a lie.
The solution to lies already exists with our libel laws.

We will have to agree to disagree. Jones is famous for hate speech. It even got brought up in court where he lost custody of his children. Apple doesn't want to support someone known for hate speech on their platform and I can't blame them.
