Well, im no troll and im no fan boy and im not tech savy. In honest to goodness truth i have no issues on my iPhone 4. no proximity sensor no dropped calls and no antenagate honestly I was suprised I saw nothing. The overall phone design is a bit awkward to the hand. To edgy, I rather feel it in a bumper. And I find that stuff like screen covers are very good to keep the glass happy and scratch free.

You know what really dissapoints me is that there talking about an iPhone 5 when I've barely had my iPhone 4 for 3 months... I like it a lot and the retina display is awesome probably the best feature on the phone. I'm aware the biggest flaw of the phone is lack of corporate utility wich the blackberry still dominates. But overall has a user friendly phone I really like it and plan on skipping a iPhone generation or two with it if it survives that long.

Again I see 0 issues of those reported with the phone. So I really don't understand what went wrong.. Bad batches of phones ?

And I agree with the quasi conspiracy theories regarding the white iPhone. Something definitely went wrong there.

Actually, the iPhone has much more corporate utility than it used to have. I'm not sure if it has more or less than blackberry at this point, but i know that blackberry has been used for so long, even if the iPhone had more, it would take a long time for businesses to switch over. Some have started using the iPhone for business, so it's clearly capable. Apple even has a page on apple.com devoted to showing how businesses have utilized the iPhone.

I think they made the right decision. If they released it after Xmas, would of been a huge fail in that the next gen of iPhones is round the corner.

Nail in the coffin?

This is a major embarrassment for Apple.

You're kidding, right? Please say you're kidding.

Apple's stock is the highest it's ever been. Despite issues, the newest iPhone continues to outsell a vast majority of other cell phones.

The Macintosh line continues to have higher-than-expected sales each quarter and grows in popularity every year.

So when you say "Nail in the coffin", that hints that the company is dying, unable to recover from some disaster. Please tell me, when was this recent disaster?

This is hardly a "major embarrassment" for Apple. It's more like a "disappointment" for anyone holding out for a white iPhone, people who will still buy an iPhone and cover it up with a colored case anyways.

...apart from when you scroll down and see a pic of white iPhones with bumpers

And it also still shows up under "Tech Specs" with the color and picture of a white iPhone4 shown.

But - I think if we see a white iPhone...it will be the next generation of iPhone...not the iPhone4.

I think some people are still stuck in the late 90s when apple was near bankrupt, then there're the people who just love to foretell the demise of others. Quite the odd bunch. It's rather amazing how far Apple has come honestly. Apple doesn't even show a hint of dying, they're as strong as they've ever been.

is this just to keep up the black iPhone production

Does anyone think this is just a plot because they can barely keep up with the black iphone production?

I think it is more noteworthy that as of today, Apple are selling UNLOCKED and contract free iPhones (8GB 3Gs for EUR 519, 16GB and 32 GB iPhone 4 for EUR 629 and EUR 739) in their own online store in Germany.

Yeah it's over. At some point they have to cut the production schedule to prepare for the iPhone 5. Not saying that iPhone 5 production has started (it hasn't) but with all the problems with production that the white iPhone 4 has been having, they can't keep pushing back the release over and over or it will cross with the iPhone 5.

Does anybody have any info about form factor for the next generation of iPhone? I mean, I know the antenna issue on v4 is a biggie (to say the least) but doesn't Apple normally stick with a form factor for at least two years?

We can assume that they're pushing the next form factor through faster for a release next June, but do we really know if its going to change all that much?

Honestly, I don't think anyone but hard-core Apple fans would care or even notice. Far from an embarrassment, so "major embarrassment" is a gross exaggeration. And I don't even know what to say about "nail in the coffin."

Shut her down boys! Apple is done because we couldn't make those damn white iPhones!

Disgraceful because Apple refused to sell sub-par quality white iPhones? Apple could have easily let it slide, instead I give them credit for refusing to sell a product that they are aware has defects, form factor or otherwise.

I would have given them credit had they waited to have a production ready model before announcing it. That's the thing, companies jump the gun on announcements and then fail to deliver.

Apple should have just announced a black iPhone 4 while trying to get the white one ready. At least then it wouldn't look bad for them when they fail to deliver, no matter if it's the right choice in the end.

Consumers hate vaporware.

Uh ? What's news worthy about that ? That's basically been the modus operandi for any country without a carrier exclusivity deal. We've been able to buy unlocked, unsubsidized iPhone 4s since July here in Canada.

Of course, it's possible they've made a few (safe to assume they have) and even gone so far as to create promotional images with them, even if they weren't happy with the device itself.

At mobile phone shops in Thailand I have seen dozens of white iPhone 4 skeletons used as display samples until the full "guts" arrive. I've compared these side-by-side to the working black ones and they are identical. Could be nice copy shells, but the fact that none of them have had internal components suggests that these might be legitimate cases in the wild. In Thailand, where fake Chinese phones are easily accessible, I haven't seen a single working "fake" white iPhone - just these "preview" shells.

Its not. I repeat NOT plastic for the uptenth time it's glass :D

Interesting... How hard could it be to make a white iPhone? I'd expect the black one to be the problem child... For some, this will be an epic fail. It does beg the question on whether the all glass iPhone 4 was a good idea, and if this is true, this totally answers that question and leaves a chink in Apple's armor. The first company that can come out with an all white Android will likely rake in a frustrated bunch of new customers.
