I don't GET it ...

why Apple would even make this silly change for a few different reasons, as others have already mentioned.

'Download' would look less ridiculous to me.

Edit. And for the first image, it should say "Free" as the price...

GET looks ugly and stupid. I agree, call it Download.

If it offers in-app it should state it in a pop up window too. This option can be disabled by the user. It should reset every 30 days for legal reasons.

Some Apps truly are free, as in beer. These should still be labeled Free.

Some Apps are free but can be upgraded via In-App-Purchases. They have strong value as is. They should still be labeled Free.

Apps that require In-App-Purchases to be useful should be strongly and clearly labeled that even the Get does not achieve.

Apple also needs a Download-Trial-Version to replace the system of a Free vs Paid version. Just have it be the same App and once you've tried it for a time period or number of uses then you get the chance to pay if you want to continue using it. This was the great thing about shareware / trialware / demos.

All these stupid in app purchase games have ruined mobile games forever.

If I see a game, and it says "In App Purchases" I just don't use or buy it.

The South Park episode "Freemium is not free" told exactly what is going on here and anywhere mobile games are "sold"

Most of these games are crippled or locked to keep you from enjoying the game without buying more "whatever stuff in game"

Want these games and micro-transactions "in app purchases" to go away?

Stop Using Them!

What a random, and useless feature/change. They're trying to trick us into getting hooked on in app purchases! :)

Mine still say "free," but I suppose this is an update that slowly gets populated on individual phones? Seems it would change instantly upon connecting to the app store (since that content is being pushed to my phone), but what do I know?

EDIT: nevermind. Double-tapped to quit the app then launched it again and GET is there.

Anyway, it isn't great. Get and free are not in any way synonyms. Very confusing.

that's stupid. Get is not a formal purchase word.

the one problem I have with the app purchase structure is that when you tap the button, you don't actually buy it unless you download it next.

you should first be able to purchase the app (free or paid) without the need to download. a lot of time I want something but don't want it downloaded yet as not all my devices are running the current OS.

brought to you by the same idiots who sued all-inclusive resorts over a few charges and made them relabel it super inclusive

Agree, but some of the idiots must belong to Apple since they had other options like "Download" or "Install".

Without in-app purchase it should still be labeled 'Free' i think.
That gives it extra clarity to 'buyers'.

but apps may add IAP later on, causing discontent like "I downloaded it labeled as FREE but it had to be GET instead!". Ridiculous, I know, but people complain for all kind of ridiculous reasons on the app store.

Apple Replaces 'Free' Purchase Button Labeling With 'Get' in App Store

Just as stupid as iPhone 6 'Plus'

That was probably named by different people in Apple. The same morons who changed it to "get" would probably call it the iPhone 6 Big.

Why? That's just going to be confusing for new users. You can still use most Free apps without having to make any in-app purchases.
