Simplicity is not the absence of clutter, that's a consequence of simplicity. And with our new GET button, we're reducing clutter by 25%.

Get simple. Get :apple:

come on guys apple is trying to be more transparent and fair and you still complain.

the number of times ive seen people complain over iap purchases in free apps just because it said free was bewildering
Not really sure we know that's what's behind any of it.

4 characters get an entire story... wow... just wow....
A fairly prominent change in a highly used service from Apple gets a news item on a web site dedicated to following Apple news/rumors/discussions...who would have ever imagined it would be a news story there.

So "GET" is the new "FREE". Got it. Not sure why they made the change but I'm sure I'll get used to it in about 24 hours.

I think this is a great move. When the whole U2 debacle happened it was because they GAVE everyone the album for FREE. This allows people to come GET their free stuff.

If you want it, come and get it. :apple:

Why not:

• Free - for apps without in-app purchase.
• Get - for free apps with in-app purchase.

Apple is trying to play hard ball here.....

If it's a free app, it's free even even if there are in-app purchases within the app, simply because u do not buy in-app purchases on the store, u buy them within the app.

Apple is luring to place where users will be confused, about weather an app is free anymore just because they choose change it.

Besides, since there are in-app purchases, the developer needs to be up front anyway, so Apple is basically informing us twice.

display average in-app spend

Would be very helpful to see a percentage of users making in-app purchases along with their average / median spend. Would help clear the picture of exactly how much is going to be needed to be spent and if in app purcases are neccessary ... weed out the EA games =]

You know Steve jobs would not had allowed this.

He would of picked a more eloquent word.

Man apple has just been losing it lately

They need to fix the "Top Charts" section to remain consistent.

It still reads:
Paid_Free_Top Grossing

Needs to be:
Paid_GET_Top Grossing

;)

Uh... Why exactly is GET a good of way of saying "this app is free with in-app purchases"?

Personally, I feel like there is no obvious way to do this well. They need a download button and initial price and in-app possibilities separately.

Agreed. 'Sorta free' wouldn't fit on a button very well. I did like the notation that said that in-app purchases were a 'feature' of the app I was looking at. As long as they keep that, I guess I'll deal... (wispy overly dramatic sigh)

What's really ticking me off are the many and drastic changes in iTunes! Damn, I just get down how to move my cheese in the old one, and they go and screw it up again and I'm still stumped at a few things that I used to do 'before the change'. Sounds awfully menopausal...

i just want to download free apps without imputing my freaking password. why can't able let me do that just like in the play store

AND the latest was that I had to reconfirm my credit card information to download an album that I HAD ENOUGH CREDIT FOR ALREADY ON MY ACCOUNT! I was shocked that it popped up! I mean, DUH! It wasn't going onto the card geniuses... Thank Ford it was close at hand. It was like asking mommy for permission to download something. Abusive?

I remember stating many times in my iPhone 3GS days that my favorite app on my iPhone was the App Store.

My have things changed. Now, I only go to the App Store specifically to ensure an update comes in or only because someone has recommended something specifically for me to check out.

The Featured and Top Categories pages in the App Store are filled with crapware freemium **** now.

Long gone are the days where I actually stumble upon a useful app just by browsing through the App Store.

Long gone are the days where I could actually trust that the reviews were from honest users with honest opinions.

This small change won't make the App Store suck less, sadly. An overhaul on the process that places Apps in the Featured section might.

"Download our GET app today on the App Store"

"Download our FREE app today on the App Store via the GET link."

Idk...I tried to save it.
