Its interesting you mentioned this, because Steve Jobs described Apple products as something they would make for themselves that they would want to use, they just happen to sell it to us consumers too.
That's true, but in Jobs' era, that line made more sense than nowadays. Apple has some great products, but I think they make a lot of them, with a lot of them being pretty much redundant.

Take the iPhone 14 for example. It's basically a slightly refreshed 13. They should've simply discontinue mini in favor of Plus - or sell the iPhone 13 in three different sizes for the time being, with the couple of new features such as Satellite SOS, being exclusive to the Plus model, just like they've kept highest-end features exclusive to the Pro Max models in the past. Heck, not sure how elsewhere, but here in Slovakia Apple tries to sell the new phones not just by promoting trade-in more agressively than ever before, but even giving an additional 100€ discount if you bring your old device. And this has been a thing for past three months.

Tens of millions of people have found a use case for wearing a {VR} “helmet”. Please don’t quote me for your non sequiturs.
Is that why Apple keeps hesitating on launch, C-Suite Execs are weary, and maunfacturers are balking?

This isn't some yahoo on the Internet making up fairy tales, it's Ming Chi Kuo

How do you expect them to get to the $1000 version with high value features if they don't iterate on this through generations?

They can't keep iterating on AR/VR in a lab where only their employees use and test it. Real world testing has to happen at some point, and we just call that the early adopter phase.
We expect them to do it indoors - and be ready to release a sensible product once technology advances so that it actually makes sense. That's what R&D dept is for. Noone is going to use something that is: 1. heavy 2. expensive 3. has short battery life 4. has no environment/software to actually enjoy using it.
Can't you see it's a premature, early product that has no real application considering the status quo of the software?
They'll make a small amount of these units (they know its not going to sell well for obvious reasons) and use people as lab rats to further advance the product while waiting for technology to make sense for a product like this headset.

Agreed. It is draining resources away from other projects.
Yeah and let's not forget we still have no Mac Pro, not one sensible external display (this new one makes little sense and XDR is too old/expensive for a professional monitor). We have no iMac, no iMac Pro, no Mac Pro... Yet, we hear about this absurd gadget with no real life application. Tbh it kind of pisses me off.
