Insane price hikes on incremental upgrades isnt working. I returned the xs max and kept my x because it wasn’t worth the extra money for something so similar. Stop putting out phones every year and work on getting better innovation
I don’t think they mind. Since they released the Apple Watch, they seem to liken themselves as a luxury brand. When the relative profit margins are so high you don’t have to sell that many phones compared to others. It’s like they’re happily purging the people that aren’t going to just spend on everything and anything.
If you’re full in on Apple, which many people are, you’re going to be replacing an iPhone, iPad, AirPods, watch, dongles/chargers, MacBook, iMac every now and then. That’s a lot of profit coming in from one person.
All of which is fine, it’s not like there aren’t any alternatives.
I find it interesting that so many people say iOS is better but won't pay for it. They want Apple to set the price of their flagships to be lower than Samsung's flagships. Why should apple do that when people already said iOS is better.
Need to cut the price, not the orders.
Agreed. The prices are unrealistic now because the competition is so good. However, people cannot complain too much about the price because it is the consumers who have brought us to this point.
I'm not sure anyone is saying that the iPhone should be cheaper than samsung's s9. but currently the S9 is almost $280 cheaper than the iPhone. the S9+ is $150 less (These are all base models at base storage compared the iPhone X). Only the Note 9 starts at $999 and it's a low volume niche device.
I don't think anyone is thinking that the iPHone should be cheaper than the S9 or S9+, but it also is a bit of a stretch that it starts at 999, before you factor in even the + size or storage upgraes
As a customer, I see this as a win. I would rather buy devices that are designed to last as long as possible. And for a variety of reasons, I buy most of my services from Apple already (except for ebooks/comics -> Amazon); so no loss for me there.
Unfortunately it is true. Now only Cook & Co need to see reality. Something I don't believe is happening soonI went Android long ago, not locked into the Apple ecosystem, better hardware and features. I now have the Huawei Mate Pro 20. 40 megapixel camera, 3 lenses including ultrawide, inbuilt fingerprint and face ID, bigger battery. Long ago being locked into Apple's world made sense, because the tech was so much better. Those days have left long ago.
I wonder if it matters to anyone that Apple develops and maintains their own operating system. It's an entire platform. You could say a portion of each iPhone sale goes towards that.
Meanwhile... Samsung took the easy route and let someone else build them an operating system (Google)
It sounds worse when Samsung charges $900-1000 for a phone and they don't even have to make the operating system!

I'm SO glad Apple has clued up fans like yourself as no way they can figure it out for themselves nor have business analysts on tap to tell them the optimum sales strategy...
This story is the same every single year and it's false each and every one.
We've heard this narrative before. Last year, a flurry of reports variously referred to the iPhone X as a "failure," "disappointment," and "flop." Another report said the iPhone X "did not live up to the hype." Yet, the iPhone X went on to become not only the top-selling iPhone at Apple, but in the entire world.
Google’s Pixel has a fantastic camera. One month into release, it’s being discounted at BOGO50 or $200 off, rumors of slow sales dog them, yet I don’t see folks calling for the resignation of product heads.
