Now a days even OnePlus, Xiaomi, RealMe, amazefit and many others offer metal casing with AMOLED screen (bigger) and have many health features in it. Many Chinese made Apple Watch Ultra 2 decoys have BP monitor, Blood Sugar, Sleep monitor, Oxygen etc…though they may not be reliable in their readings. Bringing plastic now may not attract unless the price is competitive. I also bought Apple Watch Ultra 2 clone for $40 which looks even better than the Ultra 2 49mm (curvy AMOLED Screen compared to flat one from Apple) which is completely metal (quality looks identical to Ultra 2) and able to fit all the Ultra 2 but without LTE. I went for Ultra 2 only because it lacked LTE. Now, cheaper players in my country are offering LTE (with eSIM and physical Nano SIM) with metal casing at far cheaper price points between $50-$100.

The world doesn’t need more plastic, it’s in your food, your body/bloodstream & brain. You want more? That’s crazy.

Durable plastic is not really the issue: it's a fantastic material that makes a lot of products and technologies possible that wouldn't be otherwise.

Wasteful and excessive single use plastic is what we need to address.

Give me a valid reason a high schooler shouldn’t have a phone. I’ll wait.

My nieces are allowed phones but they aren't allowed to use them during school time. Phones go away when they arrive at school and can be used again when they leave. Of course, they have laptops which they are allowed to use at school... 🤷‍♂️

It’s not unusual for the Apple Watch to get noticeably-warm when charging. Mine occasionally does (particularly during summer). Not dangerously hot or anything (never had a warning about charging being on hold due to the temperature), but it does get noticeably-warm.

Good point, I didn't think about charging. Inductive charging does indeed have some inherent inefficiencies which produce a bit of heat.

Next up: Apple Watch EL (extra light) with cardboard casing.

Right. G-Shock watches and most Casios are plastic. SWATCH is 100% plastic. Lots of quartz, digital and a fair number of “fashion” watches (Michael Korzs etc.) are too.

ALL mechanical watches practically without exception are made of stainless steel, titanium or alloys of precious metals like gold. Oh, and some are bronze.

In other words, serious watches are metal (not aluminum). Toy watches and fitness trackers are plastic.

There are full matal Casio watches, including G-Shock.

Aren’t iPhone 5c’s sought after by collectors now?

I didn’t think they were too bad looking, especially the all white one.

Now that multi-circle case…now that was hideous.
I have 2 iPhone 5C in white sat in a drawer so hopefully they are collectors items. I had them from work for my kids a few years back and they were hardly used and cased, so in excellent condition. They were not a bad phone and I am surprised Apple didn't make another plastic cased phone considering how successful the 5C was.

Yuck... hell no pls... 😣
Loads of apples devices are made of plastic.

Apple Pencil, chargers, AirPods….

There’s nothing wrong with plastic as long as it is used sustainably. It has lots of properties that are beneficial and is extremely durable in some situations.

Cheaper for Apple to make. Not cheaper for you.

Apple could just knock down the price of the current/future SE to match Galaxy watch and take less of a profit but oh no.

Sure. But they’re the exception.

Apple likes the environment only when it can use it as an excuse to remove stuff from the boxes (headphones, power adaptors). Otherwise it cares about it less than zero and it’s happy to make plastic stuff which is demonstrably not 100% recyclable like aluminium.
