Looking forward to the release and the comments from all those iPhone purists who have been laughing at any screen bigger than 4 inches. :D

They will deny ever saying such things, and embrace anything apple puts out. Don't forget all the folks who said the ipad mini was never going to happen because jobs said it wasn't. They have all crawled back under a rock, or have since changed their tunes and LOVE the mini now. It will never change.

fact

Producing giant phone by apple doesn't change the fact that big screens are dumb.

I'll take a 4.7" easy.. They can keep the crap curved screen's to themselves I don't want one!

I'll take the 4.7, you can keep the 5.5 I want a phone in my pocket, not a mini tablet.

Ah, Bloomberg. So reliable.

Apple has considered selling the new iPhone for about $200, without obligating users to sign a two-year service contract, said the person who has seen it.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) may delay the introduction of the iPhone 5S until the end of the year after the design was changed to feature a bigger 4.3-inch retina display screen, the Commercial Times reported.

The services are based on “Near-Field Communication,” a technology that can beam and receive information at a distance of up to 4 inches, due to be embedded in the next iteration of the iPhone for AT&T Inc. and the iPad 2, Doherty said. Both products are likely to be introduced this year, he said, citing engineers who are working on hardware for the Apple project.

The device would use cheaper parts and may be smaller than current models, people familiar with the plans said.

These guys don't have a clue what they're talking about.

My guess: it's a mixup.

1. Apple probably is experimenting with larger displays
2. Apple probably is experimenting with curved displays

However, I highly doubt they would use curved displays in the iPhone. I suspect the curved displays are actually iWatch displays and not the larger iPhone displays.

I still don't understand the need for huge screens on a phone. Portability is more important to me and truly every time I see someone holding the SG Note, I laugh at the ridiculously huge phone covering 80% of his/her face.

so basically you're the same as them, just with a different opinion.

"glass that curves downward at the edges..." So that would be a convex display.

I'm thinking similar to the edges of the nexus 4. It makes sense with the new swipe gestures in iOS 7. That it is actually something I miss on the new nexus. It makes swiping from the edge very smooth...

I'm not sure the manufacturers of curved display and batteries could ramp up their output to sufficient Apple quantities. Seems like a very fledgling technology.

Sad thing is it seems these days if something is reported by Bloomberg everyone jumps on it. Even though, as you've proven above, their track record is spotty at best.

Lets wait and see who laughs the last.........bet this is just one of the thousand rumors never coming through.

How so? I don't laugh at others for having other needs or preferences. I don't seek to deny others a choice simply because I don't need one.

See, here's exactly what I mean:

I still don't understand the need for huge screens on a phone. Portability is more important to me and truly every time I see someone holding the SG Note, I laugh at the ridiculously huge phone covering 80% of his/her face.

Now if someone with that attitude were to change his/her mind as soon as a large screen iPhone comes out, that's who I'm laughing at.

I think this is a great idea, I recently switched from an iPhone (had one since 2007) to the Nexus 5 because I think Apple's pricing has gone over the top (€700 for a 5S 16 GB). The Nexus was half that price

I was worried about the bigger screen on the nexus but after some initial handling difficulties I think it's way better. Even on the iPhone I used a headset for long calls anyway. Browsing is much more comfortable and typing is too. I think 5" is about the sweet spot.

If Apple manages to drop the price a bit (I would have bought the 5C in a snap if it'd been €400) and goes for bigger screens I'll definitely return, I think iOS is just better. Also staying on the iPad by the way. Android is not great on tablets.

But anyway yes I think they should go with the times. One size does not fit all.
