Cars where you can't open the bonnet, and the car battery is soldered in anyway.

They can't even get their products lasts a long time due to battery and now we are meant to see a breakthrough for the car? I seriously doubt that.

I don't think anyone can beat Tesla now and not for long time. This article is fishy

I think none of the traditional auto manufacturer can, but if they team with the right high tech company I can see that definitely be an interesting competition to Tesla. Don't get me wrong, I love my Tesla but the (mechanical) build quality leaves a lot to desire.

Now let’s hope they don’t solder the wheels to the frame 🤣
You had me laughing for several minutes there lol!

I don’t know if this deal would happen, they seem to just be going from one car company to another according to the rumours, this must be what the third or fourth manufacture they’ve been rumoured to be speaking to? If true then that doesn’t say a lot for the deal they want or margins or something.

Toyota. Great!

But is there any car manufacturer Apples is NOT talking to or has talked to in the past?

2024 is probably too early for mass production to start.

Even if Toyota opened CATIA this morning to begin design work, the car would likely be more of a 2026 model. Cars are extremely arduous things to develop and certify.

That is true. Tesla needs to improve on that I agree.
I think that Apple could be the first serious company to challenge Tesla but I doubt they get anywhere close. Apple might eventually catch up with them or even over take them but for now, its a catching up game.

And I'm sure there is no breakthrough battery tech in Apple's labs either. Although, I would love better advancements in that sector. Its the most important part of the car (also the most expensive) so I would love to be wrong on this one.

:)

The same Toyota that is trying to slow down electrification of vehicles because they went all in on Hydrogen?

Toyota also wants to keep milking gas+electric hybrids for as long as possible, continuing to make low performance hybrids and plug-in hybrids with short battery range and slow charging. If Toyota claims to be committed to electric and they believe so much in hydrogen, why don’t they make something like the Mercedes GLC F-Cell. It would probably be less complex than a gas+electric hybrid.

Apple probably thought they could walk in to the meeting and throw their weight around. But the car companies would have none of it.

Toyota, just know that Apple is a bad boy and will not marry you. Apple, as always, will pump and dump.

I just don’t see anyone doing it better than Tesla.
Sure, apple might come out with a nice $100k ultra luxury car, but anyone can do that now. But no one to just going to leap frog Tesla in AI auto drive arena very easily.

I mean Siri is still a bit of a hot mess.
Whoever can get 5 times more battery efficiency will dominate. If Apple could develop and own a better battery system, nobody could stop them - until there is an even better system. "It's the battery, stupid!"

Toyota could have prototypes, just waiting for a long-lasting/less expensive battery...we don't know what the world's largest car company has up its sleeve...

I said a while ago that I could see Apple partnering with an auto manufacturer for the "Apple Car" and was quickly bashed about it. I thing that building the car this way makes more sense, I am going to continue to say that Apple will not mass produce a vehicle until I am sitting in one.

IMO, I think it will be a single seated AI Pod for 2000$-5000$ that attaches to others in case you want to share a ride.
