What about reducing prices on all the Mac models they still hold in their line up.

Costs for those would have fallen since the technology in them are 3+ years old.

Daylight robbery they were trying to sell the trash can Mac Pro at full price after 6 years on the market before the new one came out.
Agree.

I could see them get rid of the 64GB option. Hiking up the base price with $50 but still giving an excuse.

But yeah, suddenly it seems the iPhone 11 was really cheap…

Apple does that every once in a while if they spec-change their offering. Sometimes BTO options change in price.
It's not unheard of.

If the market is still there and pro people buy the machine at this price point, why would Apple reduce prices? They are a business, not a charity or a not-for-profit org.

The redesigned SE (not the current SE updated with 5G) looks more and more appealing as my next iPhone.

So, to keep the company being a trillion dollar company, rather than keep prices as they are and absorb the chip price increases which would have a small impact on their profit margin, the company would rather increase the price of the phone so the companies profit's are not affected in any way. Way to keep Apple customers happy there Apple...NOT!!!

I’m not so concerned about the pricing, at least not until I know what I’m getting for the increase. I don’t think some higher tier video codecs really matter too much unless they’re adding dual iso 444 12 bit color.

My iPhone X is getting long-in-the-tooth in terms of its camera & battery, but is fine everywhere else. A price increase would probably persuade me to hold off upgrading for another year.

I mean, the prices have always looked nice in US dollar but it is just insane to see that price tag in something like Euro. Yes, tax is not included in the price blablabla but it still does not come close. I remember those days when Apple only replaced the $ sign with the € sign but now it is like 200 in Euro on top! they also seem to be penny pinching with ridiculous prices like "X Euro and 41 Cent". Even Apple must know their prices are insane, since they are usually promoting the "from" price, based on a monthly financed price now instead of showing the full price straight away. Who would have ever thought you will have to finance a phone?! I know the US loves financing stuff and paying later but that usually does not fly well here.

Thankfully I am not in the market of a new iPhone. I have not even taken advantage of the 12 Pro Max camera yet thanks to going from lockdown to lockdown. Finally will be able to use it for the first time on vacation in a year next week. Also, iOS has advanced so little. What do you need to upgrade for? Only to go back using the same apps on the same Home Screen that you probably haven't been bothered to change in years :D

edit: just realised this post is a lot about "me" lol oh well, it is a forum
Well, I am on the market for a new iPhone 13. Specifically, the 13 mini. And I really hope they don’t make it even more expensive, because the sales will be even worse than those of the 12 mini.

The 12 mini is very discounted on a lot of retailers, I guess that it Apple raises its official price, I will have to buy it from a different retailer, like Amazon or Media Markt.

Unfortunately there are to many sad idiots that will pay the stupid prices. Until these morons find their single braincells and spend their money elsewhere, there is no incentive for Apple to actually charge sensible prices. But many on here and in th general public just lap it up like sheep at a trough.

If it was any other company they'd all be slagging them off and threatening to go elsewhere with their custom. Would dread to think how all the people would react if food companies increase the prices to match the increase in ingredient costs over the past 5 - 10 years.

Apple already increased the price of the standard iPhone 12 by $129 compared to the iPhone 11. 😒
On the opposite side, the prices of the flagship iPhones haven't changed for 3-4 years. It was always $999 and $1099.

lol just weeks away from new iphone and macbook releases there're "rumours" about price spikes. as if somebody wants potential customers to buy current stock to make room for new stuff.

The Pro models should have their price increased. They’re getting the bulk of new tech and the price is less elastic in demand.

With the massive amounts of chips Apple orders for the iPhone, economies of scale make it far less of a factor on the total cost which is spread over hundreds of millions of consumers. But on the other end, this is why the new M1X Macs are going to be far more expensive. That’s a very low volume item. I would imagine the iPad Pro‘s with their X series chips sell at least three times as well as will these high end Macs.
I would imagine Apple will probably end up using the M1X chips on more products to help cover production costs.

Funny thing is that even when Apple doesn’t cut prices, it still can’t force its customers to buy its products.
