Real reason they are raising price? There is nothing but the cable and instructions to remove from the box. Apple hit a box set decontenting wall.

I am sure we will love the new pricing. The more we pay for the same thing, the more valuable it gets for us somehow, instead of becoming repulsive. Apple is helping us realise the value here, how we must have the latest every year, chip shortage be damned, and I think we need to be thankful.
Cult members say stuff like this. “We need to be thankful” - For what, handing $1000 and upwards to the richest corporation on earth?

Well if the price goes up, that will be a lost sale from me this year for sure. $1099 is already pushing the boundaries of acceptable pricing for a device and my 12 Pro Max is fine. Maybe I’ll actually go get that Pixel 5a.

Personally, I love it when Apple goes to market with powerful products at very competitive prices.

Recently, the M1 MacBook Air is a prime example of this: Performance off the charts (in its category) + a low price-tag is just such a powerplay. It makes Apple the rebel we all love.

We’ve heard from much, much more reliable sources that the prices will remain exactly the same, mainly because they updated the prices last year, and all of the upgrades this year are very minor.
highly, highly doubt this is true mainly just because of the source, but also because Apple would not be able to justify it outside of the chip shortage.
The similarities between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series are just too many to justify a price increase

Apple could price the new iphone at $3000 or even $4000 and they know people will buy it purely for the fact that it's Apple.

Assuming current price level, the iPhone 13 128GB will cost $879, the iPhone 13 Pro 128GB will cost $999. For $120 more, you get telephone lens, LiDAR, 2 GB more RAM and ProMotion. Maybe Apple just wants to upsell.

If there is a price hike this year, it can't be on standard model, except if they put 128 at start to justify the hike but it sounds unlikely.
On the other hand, increasing pro price sounds - sadly - likely since 2020 Pro sell well despite no 120 Hz and this year is the year of 120Hz + TSCM hike and no hike on the pro models in 2020.

My guess is $50 or $100 extra on 2021 Pro models. Standard and mini same price.
Increasing price on non pro 13 series could be counterproductive since it will increase sales of 12 series. And Apple want to sell 2021 models because prices and margin are higher there (even more true on pro models)

Exactly like 2020 + ProMotion now for the pro, so a price increase for pro models only seems not so ridiculous.

"TSMC is reportedly looking to increase its costs by as much as 20%..." 🤷🏻‍♂️
hmm...
Either:
TSMC is reportedly looking to increase its prices by as much as 20%...
Or
TSMC is reportedly looking to increase the cost of xyz by as much as 20%...

Apple looks at its bank account with trillions of dollars: “you know what, we need more money. Let’s raise the prices, our sh eep won’t notice the price hike.

Not sure whether the wide + ultrawide will be the same for base and Pro this time round

Apple is a profit-making company. If they can earn more by increasing prices, they should, regardless of how much money they already have.

Well they can’t take anything else out of the box can they?

At this point I’m thinking they should take the phone out of the box and be done with. Annual release cycle is getting tiring and converting this to biennial will have true environmental impact.. than taking essentials like chargers and earphones out.

Bogus report — how on earth would they know? This is total fake news based on the report that one of Apple’s suppliers is raising their costs.

How much more are you personally willing to part with for an iPhone ?

Can they get 1499 from you this year or even next year for the iPhone?

Not a surprise at all. Apple already increased the price of the iPhone 12, so I'm guessing it's the Pro that will get a price hike this time.

The worse part is pricing in some countries like mine will be even more ridiculous.

Samsung releasing S21FE during that time will be perfect as an anti-thesis to the expensive iPhone 13.
And also remember the huge jump the iPhone X made. That phone normalized expensive cell phone pricing.
