"President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire,” Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to the former president, said Thursday

Maybe the pilot will tell the story of:
“If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”.

There’s a lot of other “stories” he told. This show could run longer than The Simpsons.

As a Republican, I didn't mind the guy much other than heightened taxes. Well spoken, somewhat cultured, etc. Though I never found him interesting to listen to. Though I can say the same about any politician. People like him or even Jerry Seinfield put me to sleep.

I assume that statement includes the quiet lifting of the ban on elephant ivory trophies that happened yesterday? Or maybe the whole allowing mentally ill guns thing which is clearly a winner?
There are now methods of making elephant ivory trophies that look indishtinguishable from the real thing. And teachers need guns to protect students. A school schoolers favorite place is a fun free zone.

Netflix is said to be in advanced negotiations with former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle to produce a series of high-profile shows for the streaming service, with Apple said to be waiting in line if a deal between the two parties falls through.

The New York Times reports that Netflix is offering to pay the Obamas to produce the exclusive content, according to people familiar with the discussions, although it's unclear how much is on the table given the couple's lack of experience in the media business.

However, rather than use the shows to respond to President Trump or conservative critics, Obama is reportedly interested in treating them as a platform for topics that dominated his presidency, such as health care, voting rights, immigration, foreign policy, and climate change. The New York Times notes that Obama retains close ties to Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer. Sarandos is married to Nicole A. Avant, an activist who served as Obama's ambassador to the Bahamas. Reed Hastings, the chief executive of Netflix, was also close to Obama while he was president and an attendee at state dinners, according to the report.

Apple has been comparatively slow at securing original content for its television offering, but the company now has at least 10 television shows in the early stages of development, including an untitled morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon and an "Amazing Stories" reboot from Steven Spielberg.

Other shows on the tech giant's books include an untitled space drama from Battlestar Galactica creator Ronald D. Moore, a series written by "La La Land" creator Damien Chazelle, a Kristen Wiig comedy series, See, an epic world-building drama, Home, a docuseries focusing on incredible homes, and "Little America," an anthology series from "The Big Sick" creators Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon.

So propaganda to bash our president.

I like Obama. He's a great inspirationalist. The *way* he governed was great - thoughtful policies. What he was able to accomplish was small (save the ACA), mostly b/c of GOP obstructionism. I'll agree he certainly wasn't actually a leftist.
Anyways, as a TV series, he could certainly reach a great audience and inspire the viewer. Make them work for their better morals and values. We need content that asks us to be better and work for compassion, justice, unity. Hopefully it would be a free series. I'm not paying for 1 show nor even crappy AppleTV/Music streaming.

Who would want to watch that? Entertainment should be entertaining. If you want politics there is plenty of that content already.

I don’t really like Obama or his politics. I don’t want to give money to a company that promotes them. I can’t understand why Netflix or Apple would want to have such a show.
I totally agree with you.

Hope and change president who changed NOTHING :(
Well he did change one thing he suckered the country into taking care of he and his family for the rest of their lives and he stuck the state of Springfield Illinois for $50,000.00
[doublepost=1520604216][/doublepost]
Why doesn't he just go away?
One could only hope he would just sod off.

Oh great.. Another thread that has turned into someone has a different philosophy than me so he is a traitor to this country and that philosophy is a disease that needs to be wiped out! Only my philosophy is the right one and everyone needs to conform!

I seriously hope most of that crap is people trolling. I don’t care if you liked Obama or agreed with his policies, but I find the above attitudes to be appalling.

Because dialogue is how you better a society. If you only listen to views you agree with, how do you grow as a person? The USA in particular has always boasted itself on having differing views but always coming together to find common ground.

Elephant ivory? LOL, yeah, that's a huge concern to working class Americans. Good grief.

Allowing mentally ill access to guns? Source that isn't CNN, Slate, HuffPo or Vice, please.

My bank account is fatter, my 401K is fatter, ISIS is done, ICE is enforcing the law. What's not to like, unless you want to be chronically unhappy?

Tim Cook can’t wait to get political again. So much for great products (or stable OSes).
Not like the rest of the country, and its biggest companies, who aren't political at all...
But yes I agree, if they buy a show about a president I don't like, their MacBook Pro display connectors and memory modules will surely suffer.

I find the general tone of these comments quite interesting. At a time when a significant majority of the general public has very favorable views of Obama and generally dislikes his successor, most people here seem to dislike him. Personally, I would do just about anything for a return of the competency we had in the Obama White House, as compared to the dumpster fire in there now.

Nothing triggers Obama voters more than an extra $1000 in the working classes bank account every year. They’d much rather that go to “infrastructure”.

Nothing triggers independents and libertarians more than cutting taxes without paying for them WHILE increasing spending.

Yeah.... that’s going to work out great.

Everything drives Trump voters nuts.

Honestly, just a picture of Obama literally increases their heart-rate.
You mean like a picture of Trump in front of Hillary voters. There are fools on both sides of the isle. My suggestion: Just don't be one yourself. That's all you can control.
