Who would want to watch that? Entertainment should be entertaining. If you want politics there is plenty of that content already.

I don’t really like Obama or his politics. I don’t want to give money to a company that promotes them. I can’t understand why Netflix or Apple would want to have such a show.

Then don't buy from Apple. Oh wait ... they have you by the balls. LOL

So true. I just don’t get it. What are those extraordinary achievements that Obama did as President that he is held so high from his fans other than the ones you mention. He also promised to close Gitmo but did nothing.

To this day I still hold my point that Obama got elected because people were excited to see the first black president of USA no matter if this man is not a fit for that position or if he is part of the elite and would serve their agenda. I know cause that’s how I felt living in Europe, he really inspired hope just because of his color not his actions as president.

Folks who think that Obama did nothing must have forgotten how the economy was in complete free fall at the end of 2008. There was a genuine fear at that time that we were on the verge of a depression. Obama deserves a huge amount of credit (along with TARP and the Fed) for getting the economy back on solid ground within a year and to the point that we are now on one of the longest sustained period of growth in US history.

Also, it’s crazy that people think that Trump has actually done something meaningful about restoring manufacturing jobs (spoiler, he hasn’t), while it was Obama who saved more of those jobs than Trump will ever dream of, by bailing out the US auto industry.

You make a fair point about the economy. But then again, did the lives of black neighborhoods improved at all? And again, he didn’t close Gitmo as he promised to and he continued the wars of his evil predecessors.

Wrong forum for logic.

Why did he hire a team of lawyers last year. That scum bag is going down.

You can’t wiretap a political opponent for the gain of your party. When it all goes does the democrat party will cease to be.

In the end he will confirm he’s a Kenyan to try and get out of his mess.

Goodness, are you this hateful in real life or just online? I hope you are not an influence to any young impressionable minds. Take a break from the internet, bud and reevaluate.

It’s rich seeing all of these posters calling Obama a liar, yet they’re probably the same people that support Trump, the biggest liar of all time.

Please quote one thing Trump lied about after being elected...just one

Seriously? How about at his very first press conference, where he claimed that he had won "the biggest electoral college win since Ronald Reagan." That would be true, if it weren't for the bigger electoral college wins of George H.W. Bush, Clinton (twice) and Obama (twice), i.e., 5 of the 7 elections since Reagan.

Or, how about, "we have signed more legislation than anybody. We broke the record of Harry Truman." In fact, "According to calculations by govtrack.us-- a nonpartisan website that collects congressional and other governmental data -- Trump actually ranked last in legislation signed among post-World War II presidents in their first calendar year who took office on the regular four-year cycle."

And those are just two random items. Here's a running list of the 1254 false things Trump has said since he became president (and that's only through last month).

Can't believe Apple is even thinking about doing this.
I think it's a bad idea for any business to get this political.
Apple doesn't seem to understand that there is life outside of their immediate headquarters.
I've been there many times, and to Google too, and know exactly how isolated these people
really are and how they think the world evolves around them.
It can get pretty pathetic to talk to them actually.
So many of them are 100% self centered.

This would trigger the conservatives on this site so hard.

With this should, we could bring back Obama to be President for life. He should rule over these dangerous conservatives with an iron fist and silence them permanently while confiscating their firearms.

Please try that. The outcome won't be an enchanting one, I guarantee it. He can even leave his murdering drones in his garage. The need the rest after years of murdering humans. Too bad it did't make the world a better place. Typical.

Netflix is said to be in advanced negotiations with former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle to produce a series of high-profile shows for the streaming service, with Apple said to be waiting in line if a deal between the two parties falls through.

The New York Times reports that Netflix is offering to pay the Obamas to produce the exclusive content, according to people familiar with the discussions, although it's unclear how much is on the table given the couple's lack of experience in the media business.

However, rather than use the shows to respond to President Trump or conservative critics, Obama is reportedly interested in treating them as a platform for topics that dominated his presidency, such as health care, voting rights, immigration, foreign policy, and climate change. The New York Times notes that Obama retains close ties to Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer. Sarandos is married to Nicole A. Avant, an activist who served as Obama's ambassador to the Bahamas. Reed Hastings, the chief executive of Netflix, was also close to Obama while he was president and an attendee at state dinners, according to the report.

Apple has been comparatively slow at securing original content for its television offering, but the company now has at least 10 television shows in the early stages of development, including an untitled morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon and an "Amazing Stories" reboot from Steven Spielberg.

Other shows on the tech giant's books include an untitled space drama from Battlestar Galactica creator Ronald D. Moore, a series written by "La La Land" creator Damien Chazelle, a Kristen Wiig comedy series, See, an epic world-building drama, Home, a docuseries focusing on incredible homes, and "Little America," an anthology series from "The Big Sick" creators Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon.

Elephant ivory? LOL, yeah, that's a huge concern to working class Americans. Good grief.

Well, working class Americans are civilized people who inhabit the planet Earth, so, yeah, I'd think that the extinction of an entire family of mammals was a legitimate concern to them.

Either that, or they don't qualify as civilized, and this comes from a man who despises the disdain the modern, college-educated lefties from all over the world have for the working class.

If Monsanto controlled a Republican administration the way it controlled Obama's the left would have been up in arms.
This Democrat-Republican gang thing is ridiculous.
Bush was a bad President
Obama was a bad President

The 140 million Americans who voted for him. I wouldn't mind watching Obama at all. He's intelligent and concise and a generally interesting person outside of politics.

Wasn’t this the “hope” and “change” President ?
Obama was hope. Trump is division.

Nah.. we started dividing well before Trump was elected.

Stop blaming everything on Trump. If anyone truly feels a divide, I suggest looking in the mirror first. Including myself.

The American people need to do the heavy lifting to get this country back in shape.

It’s really a much bigger audience than that. As others have noted, Netflix (and, eventually Apple) are producing content for the US and international audiences. And, unlike the current president, Obama is very popular world wide.

Lots of Obama haters in this thread (though that's par for the course on this site) but I personally was quite fond of the man and I would certainly hope most would agree just about anyone would be better than that thing we have now. I think they call it Trump...

Netflix (and, at some point Apple) are in the business of generating revenue through subscriptions by producing content that people are willing to pay for. Sure, there are people who hate him, but far, far more people admire him and want to see what he has to say.

Can you name a single inspiring phrase or hook from any of Obama's speeches as President? Even one? From where I'm sitting, the only memorable thing Obama ever said in eight years as President was "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Period." And that turned out to be a colossal lie. Could you quote your favorite?

I could, but you wouldn’t recognize them if you only watched Fox News. He made some inspiring speeches regarding things like diversity and marriage equality. Not stuff that plays well to the Fox crowd.

The “you can keep your doctor” thing was true for most Americans, but he shouldn’t have promised something that was out of his hands. At least the ACA has brought health care to millions of Americans who did not previously have coverage. It wasn’t nearly as huge or damaging a lie as Bush’s “weapons of mass destruction” or Rumsfeld’s assurance that the Iraq war would pay for itself and we’d be out in a year. Those lies have claimed lives and limbs. And then there is Trump. He tells lies even when he doesn’t need to. He’s a pathological liar who just can’t stop himself even when the lie provides him with no real benefit.

Oh, nah, he's quite brilliant. Once described himself as a "I'm like a Ph.D in litigation." I can't recall an administration that's been neck deep in so much legal drama from day one in office. I've been called a traitor on here because as a Republican I don't support Donald Trump. No, sorry, I don't respect, trust or support ********ers.

Wasn't aware I had to obey and offer blind support to every mongrel that runs for office under my party. Some of these bastards from the last 30 years need to be rounded up, sent to the desert and mine rock for 18 hours a day, sleep, and repeat.

Sames goes for dimwits in the DNC.

People who like shows on politics, duh. Entertainment is subjective, some would find a political show entertaining. Obviously Netflix and Apple know their markets better then you. The same people who bought his best selling books would be some of the same ones interested in what ever show he's apart of.

Let's be honest here, if you already have netflix, you're not going to throw away your access to the content you pay to get simply because they put out a show that you don't agree with from a political POV. That would be kind of petty and silly. The best option would be to just not watch it. As for giving money to a company that promotes politics, if you support Apple, then you've already given money to a company that has promoted politics.
