It makes sense, as people realize these are obscenely disposable products for that price, when their batteries die off. I’m actually on Pros after owning the first gen, but after this I’ll consider something else.

€200 down the drain every 2-3 years for headphones... I love how they work but that’s not me. Honeymoon period is over.
i just ordered my first air pods but i can suggest galaxy buds , i had og version when i bought my s10 and used it on iphone still works but i wanted to get airpods because i was told it’s easier to switch between devices easily on it

AirPods Max were never meant to be a high volume product. It's just Apple showing what they can do with premium over-ear headphones.

Of course they sold out anyway and were on 8-12 week lead times for many, which shows you there is a market for products like them from Apple.

Nope just wasn’t any supply. One of apples worst products.

You can have all the smart features you want but at the end of the day it’s sound that matters the most.

See, again, to me it isn't the sound that matters most here at all. I have a good pair of Sony over-ear headphones that I love the sound of if I want to listen to something and the sound really does matter. AirPods are for casual every day listening, where the important feature is being able to easily use them with all my stuff and not notice they're in my ears. The sound on them is *fine* for this. It's not great but I'd take the worse sound for the ease they offer.

AirPods in generally do not seem to be made to last, but I have bad luck with Apple headphones in general. Even before, the wired ones would die on me within a year (usually the left piece for some reason would stop working).

I had to get my AirPod replaced once (also the left one started to fail) and even with the replacement they last about 30 minutes now. My AirPod Pro also had to be replaced before because of the cracking issue. Lesson learned, if I ever do get AirPods again (they ARE convenient) I will add AppleCare+ to them for sure

Yes. my AirPods experience went from one of my best Apple purchase ( Bluetooth is finally working, WTF! ) to complete disappointment when the battery is dead within a year. I just cant get myself to understand the value of a disposable Bluetooth Headphone that cost $149. Even the replacement cost $49 each.

I kept thinking, if they could have made the long extension tip of AirPod as a screw, where you can screw in a new replaceable battery for something like $19. Which is still insanely profitable.

And credit where credit's due, Qualcomm made immense effort with their chipset, which is what enables a lot of cheap Wireless AirPod like earphone.

that’s actually pretty cool if it was a thing, damn making me feel nervous of the airpods i just ordered

Diminishing returns when you get over £100. I mean the tech when you’re in the iOS environment is cool, but if I didn’t buy them right at the beginning when less options were available, then I probably may have opted for another brand.

I’ve seen some Anker Wireless buds that have over 20,000 reviews on Amazon and are 4.5/5 and are £40.

Also during the lockdown it didn’t make sense to have earbuds that only last less than 5 hours when you have work calls and stuff. I had my Bose NC700 and Jabra Evolve 85 on a lot more due to longer battery life, comfort and the ability to be connected to more than one device across different OS
I picked up the anker ones. Theyre ok....I wouldnt say they have the greatest sound, but for the price they are great. I only wear them walking around/out for a run and Im not a massive audiophile. They stay connected fine, never had any pairing issues or anything. Airpods were just too expensive for me to justify.

Adjusting production is normal, especially for just in time manufacturing. This may not say anything conclusive about demand, it’s more of Apple ensuring their inventory is tight, not having too many inventory just sitting on the shelf.

Or, most people who wanted AirPods already got one. The demand is just normalizing after the peak.

Nah. Normal consumers aren’t just sitting around waiting. These products are more accessible and cheaper than MacBooks and iPhones too. So buying this version isn’t going to hamstring you that much.

They're talking about supply chain though, not whether demand is diminishing or not. They don't want lots of surplus old stock stuck on shelves when the new items come out.

I would like to upgrade from my AirPod Pros... they have horrible battery life and tons of glitches like crackling!
There was a repair program for crackling AirPod pros. Had mine replaced for free for that very issue!

EDIT - spelling

I have at least half a dozen friends who got a pair on day 1. It was only the colours (especially blue) that were on a 8-12 week lead time.

And if you got your order in quickly (as in first 6-12 hours) the blue were availabl for day 1 delivery.

I don't own a pair myself, but they sound great. Price is in-line with other premium over-ears.

My initial response was that it's due to the pandemic – not many have the need for portable headphones, but then I realised that I never use my AirPods outside the home as they easily fall out of my ears (yet they sit better than any other in-ear I've ever tried)
That is my reaction. They are very pricey compared to others that you can get at a fraction of the cost. And me personally. Even with different tips. They still fall out. Just standing there. Normal walking. And I am having to frantically go search for them afterwards.

You do realize they work with iPads, Apple TVs and Macs as well, right?
Yes for persons who having iPhone. For a person who's using Android and iPad, why do you want to buy AirPods for something that works well for half of your devices?

@cardfan doesn't have any experience with AirPods Max. He's just a hater.

AirPods Pro have been probably the most temperamental Apple product that I have ever owned; however, that won’t stop me from replacing them with a newer model sometime in the future, as truly no other wireless earbud on the market can match their pure portability, I think.
.... says a guy who hasnt tried any other options lol

OBVIOUSLY. They're too expensive for the quality they offer. Moreover there are more affordable and better quality options.
Obviously? They have sold hundreds of millions, if they were too expensive for the quality don't think they would sell so many.
O wonder why people don't think before they post inaccurate stuff. Better quality options?
Jeez the people that can't afford apple stuff get so upset, they tey and make it so no one else can enjoy joy nice stuff. Really sad people
